Yes that's great that you are able to display knowledge of where Toyotas are made.

I like Toyota, alot, I was just suprised that the Jeep had a much nicer interior/exterior (park them side by side). Also, I think any modern car will easily last 200k/10 years (at this point resale is not a big deal), and most of us will not be rock climbing so either car would suite our off road/towing needs (aren't most of these 2wd anyway).
My only point is that the new models seem disapointing compared to the prior one.

My point was that a car being "American" means a lot of different things to different people. Many of the Big Three's products are American in name only......or at least no more american in regards to parts content/ labor than Toyotas and Hondas. There are some great, quality vehicles being built by American workers....it's all about QC/ parts standards.

Sure most vehicles will last 200K but how much you spend fixing it between zero and 200K is the story.
90% of the vehicles in the 5th Generation forum are 4WD not 2WD.
I like many american made vehicle and Jeep is one of them. Most of these guy's points though is a Jeep is not as reliable as a Toyota 4Runner and there is data to back it up, and fixing them is very expensive.
Jeep does market their vehicles much better than Toyota. I mean, trail rated? What does that even mean? Is there a secret group out there that inspects vehicles and determines that those vehicles can be taken on a trail? A manufacturer putting their own label on a vehicle like trail rated is like me saying I am "NBA ready" or "Tour Le France" rated and tatooing it on my butt. American vehicles do market well though and I have had a hard time teaching my kids about marketing hype vs. reality.

1. Toyota 4Runner Review - YouTube
(save some time & start watching at 4:45)
2. NADA shows 5 year residual values for the Jeep at 36%, 4Runner at 40%. Not really a HUGE difference is it?
3. The rest of the comments are nonsence. "you cant take it to a car wash"??? do you really beleive what you're saying? "The engine will fall apart."
4. The Jeeps v6 is stronger & offers better mileage; It does drive on road better (99.9% of the time is spent here).
I can tell you did not drive the grand cherokee.

Sure. An "edition" of any kind (special, trail, 2nd, black, limited etc) implies there is another of that something in that series. "Rated" implies that some organizing or governing or official group has evaluated whatever has been rated and determined it as being worthy of a grade or distinction. Don't tell me you fell for that too? Like I said, its like me saying I'm "NBA rated" at 6'4" and 48 years old. I might believe that but Dwight Howard would think its funny and Steve Nash would just laugh as he blew by me.

Look, first you complained about the cost. Fine, we proved you wrong. Now you are complaining about nonsense. If you don't believe us get the Jeep. Most of us here try to help and that is all we did. A word of advice: Don't go to a Nike forum expecting to hear good things about Adidas or Reebok. Don't go to a Jeep forum expecting to hear good things about Toyota and vice versa.

Yes it is, and for the most part, owned by a group of creative and helpful individuals that celebrate the vehicle. It suits our needs and continues to excite with it's incredible capability and versatility. I hope you found the information you were looking for here and best of luck in finding a new vehicle.
So much stronger that it is almost 1.5 sec slower to 60 and even the V8 doesn't match 4Runner numbers.
Consumer reports fuel economy data:
vehicle: city, highway, 150mi trip
4Runner: 12, 24, 22
JGC V6: 12, 25, 22
JGC V8: 9, 22, 17
Basically, the 4Runner out accelerates the V8 JGC while getting V6 JGC fuel economy. I won't argue about road handling. A live rear axle certainly isn't ideal for handling.
