Ya to mount a 3/8 antenna. I have a free firestik and already have a pl259 coax laying around so would nice if I didn't have to buy a bunch more stuff.
On having RagoFabrication drill a 3/8" hole instead of 3/4" NMO in the mount...no go, had to be one of the least informative conversations Ive had with an aftermarket part company.
Me: Can you confirm that the antenna mount doesnt require trimming or cutting?
Rago: Our CB mount video install is posted online you can watch that to find out.
Me: That is the video for the rear mount CB I am talking front hood mount.
Rago: Ill ask...no trimming.
Me: What is the diameter of antenna hole in hood ditch mount?
Rago: Thats patented information we cant give that out.
Me: Can I special order one with a 3/8" hole.
Rago: Due to patents we can not make one with a custom hole size.
Me: Can I order one with out a hole?
Rago: Due to patents we can not ship a product that has been altered.
Then I switched to asking about their regular ditch light bracket thinking it might work just as well as the antenna mount and hole would be closer to or smaller than 3/8 stud...
Me: Can I order just one ditch light bracket?
Rago: No those are only sold in pairs.
Me: For your ditch light brackets can you tell me the width of the slotted hole for the lights.
Rago: Due to patent policy I can not answer that question.
Me: JFC I am calling about a metal f***ing bracket. Im not calling Lockheed asking how they build their F35s
I know most don't care about this but I did want to let Rago know how frustrating it was talking to them about their products.
Hello!!
I’m very sorry about your frustration regarding the information you were looking for. I believe there was some confusion on my employees part regarding your question and I will definitely speak to her about it.
Our company offers two antenna mounts. When you originally asked about trimming she assumed the rear mount. She should have clarified. I’m sorry about that. We do always point customers to our install videos to eliminate confusion on our installs. Definitely not because we do not want to help, it often clarifies most questions and concerns.
The ham antenna mount is 3/4” which is the industry standard size for ham.
It is our company policy not to give out any measurements due to patents and duplication. It may seem silly to some but we had our whole entire product line duplicated by a competitor which lead to costly litigation.
Currently we do not offer any customizations to our products since we manufacture in bulk. If we do start offering customization, we wouldn’t be able to alter our patented products.
All of our ditch brackets are made in pairs and that’s why we sell them in pairs.
Once again, I’m really sorry for your frustration and will talk to my staff about this inside my to ensure better customer service in the future.
Melissa Rago

Rago mount. 4' Firefly.
Works great, looks great!
That's the best thing I've seen yet. Does a Browning mount only work w/ a Browning antenna or can I use a Firestik?
Also, what's the other hole with yellow cord all about?

You can use any NMO antenna, and technically the mount is made by Tram, although other ones exist.
Plenty of adapters exist to adapt the generic 3/8-24 CB mount to NMO as well.
Anand: Would you post pics of your comms setup please.
