Put this on the what did you do today thread a while back, but is also an interior mod. since the pic, I added two more loops and have been carrying 7 rods every weekend without any issues. Love it!!!!

Nice! definitely keep it simple and do what works best. i wish i could get out every weekend, but i do as much as i can (salt water) in NJ. tight lines!

Just hook a leash to one of the tie downs so that he doesn’t have enough slack to jump out. That’s what I’ve done.

Good idea, but I don't like to leave her on a collar/leash alone. I don't want her to get herself wrapped around something.

More importantly, I don't want someone saying "oh, what a cute dog, let me pet him. Wait! What's that red stuff and where did my hand go?"

Our GSD is a pu$$ycat with people when we are around and very protective of her house/car when we aren't there.

I like it this way and have thought through the accident scenario and am OK with it for me and my family. Can't put the reels in the front. If by pointy things you mean hooks, well tis the life of a fisherman.

I know this isn't much of a mod, but I enjoy it's usefulness.

So I have a 3rd row in my 4R and well... the middle row seats don't fold flat like in the non-3rd row option. Additionally I have 2 dogs that travel with me. So I bought this Kurgo divider which helps bridge the gap between the middle row and front seat (again, 3rd row 4Rs have a different seat configuration.

Well, with this Kurgo divider, I get hidden storage for my valuables. You can't see what's underneath and it is easy to get into from the front two seats. I can just reach my hand in the back to grab whatever.

Point is, it's nice to have this to keep the valuables out of sight.

Basically allowing a bridge from the 2nd row (backseat not the third row) center to between the driver and front passenger seat? Wanted to make a bridge for my dog to lay in the back, extending onto part of the center console/armrest.

It might be possible (I had to take my Kurgo out of the car for the next week) but you would just have to not use the headrest cable support. If you did, that center piece blocking the armrest area would just fall flat. When I put my Kurgo back in, I'll take a picture to show you.

Thanks again! That looks awesome. I was worried that if I wasn't using one of the headrest cable supports (so that 1 person could sit in back and so center pass thru was also down) that the entire Kurgo unit would fail and not allow for it to stay and cover the center hump in the floor. Appreciate all the help!

Clean drilled dash RAM MOUNT with power for iPhone

This is my first post. My first mod for my (new to me) used 2017 Limited
5th gen T4Rs

Not my idea, but I wanted a cleaner look. I looked at two other ram mount base pieces and didn't like either. One wasn't visually clean and I decided I wanted more support at the base. It took me forever to find this for some reason, probably because it's not a standard base mount, but I think it should be.

Secondly I wanted power for my iPhone run under the dash and separate from the Standard USB connected to the entertainment system. I tapped into the cigarette lighter power, it's already fused and connected to the key.

Here are my steps. (Photos show my how to)

1. Used painters tape to protect the plastic and give me a rough position.

2. Pulled the dash apart including the area where the cigarette lighter is. I did not include these steps they can be found in this group and on YouTube.

3. I needed to remove one wire from the entertainment system, I think it was the antenna wire. This allowed me to flip the assembly upside down and gave me more room to work on it from the passenger seat.

4. I figured out the best location visually, that was also clear internally. Note, there was barely enough room to use my low profile screwdriver.

5. Drilled a hole big enough to slide my iPhone connector through. I used a rubber grommet for a clean look. I did a practice test with a scrap piece of plastic to make sure I could get the plug through and insert the rubber grommet afterward. A little tight but worked well. I used a plastic dash removal tool to seat the rubber grommet. It was a pain, but worked well.

6. Made sure I had a clean path for the power cable to reach the cigarette lighter area.

7. Used a cigarette lighter style USB power supply. After looking at all my options. I used a metal bracket that holds the air conditioning ducks. One vertically wrapped tie wrap with two horizontal tie wraps. The bolt worked well to space the horizontal tie wraps.

8. Connected my power by tapping into the cigarette lighter and staggered the soldered connections for safety reasons. I used electrical tape and put the cable protector back in position. Black and white wire is the ground.

Holly shiiiiit, that Nardi wheel is the stupidest ricest thing i have ever seen in a 4runner. Eliminating the steering wheel controls and air bag for that nasty wheel? Lol. Ya, to each their own, yada yada. Lol

I recently added some bungee straps in the cargo area so that stuff on the wheel wells was better secured...

- Remove the plastic bolt covers
- Use some fairly small nylon rope to create a loop at the top bolt.
- Cut a flat bungee into two halves, using one half for each side. Burn the frayed end.
- Poke a small hole in the cut end of the bungee and put the bolt through it.

Very helpful to keep things from moving around. Could be a little more professional maybe, but looks good enough for me.

Explain how that helps you over a normal steering wheel? Because, most with a disability use a small wheel attached to the wheel and you can use one arm to turn it from that wheel back and forth.
