Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

i dont see any difference in the way the lights are shining while driving at night. got to put the new tires to the test these past few days in the snow and they performed great. no slipping at all very impressed with them.
its already at the top setting.
no wheel rubbing whatsoever. i was a little worried when we first put them on as the tire is abou 1" from rubbing on the control arm but theres enough room. even at full turning radius theres no rubbing.

So I have a 3" overall lift.
(Coil spacer front, rough country coils and shocks rear) just to get started. Going to be upgrading to bielstien 5100 all around and get fj coils.
I also have a 1" body lift
It's a project and it'll take time to get quality components.
Current tires are 265/75-16 on stock wheels.
What size can I upgrade to? Assuming I also upgrade the wheels to 17" with some backspacing and/or offset.
I'm not opposed to getting wheel spacers if needed.
Nor am I opposed to doing a body mount chop and doing some trimming.
Just want as big a tire as possible. (Not too wide) but tall

285's would fit, 255 would be skinnier and fit. Or you could do some more trimming and shove some 35's in there!

285's will probably rub the spindle with stock wheels, they did on mine anyway. So you would need aftermarket wheels that are offset outward or wheel spacers. With my SCS wheels and 285's I haven't even rubbed the body mount, I only grinded it smooth just in case. The 1" BL will help gain tire clearance when wheeling. My only regret with my 285's is that I wish they were bigger. :eyebrows: Going 35's next.

Thanks guys. Like I said, not opposed to trimming or chopping at all. Just might need help doing so as I've never done it and don't know exactly what I'm doing.
From what I've read, 285/70-17 is actually just shy of a true 33.
35s would be great but I worry they may be too heavy for this V6.
And of course, aftermarket wheels are a must.

35's are obviously heavier and taller, but I know plenty of daily driving FJ's that have 34's or 35's and they get along just fine with the v6. So don't let that stop you if you really want them, but 285's are a great jumping off point to decide if you need a larger tire later.

Before you get too crazy on modding, ask yourself "Why do I need 35's on a 4runner?"

I ran 35s on my tacoma with 4.88's best mod i ever did! get wheels with the right offset or use some wheel spacers so it doesn't rub the spindle/uca, do a cab mount chop, pound the ever loving shit out of the pinch weld and then wheel the piss outta that bad larry and let the rest self clear and make room for itself! you'll never look back
Why wouldn't you need 35's on a 4runner? More capable, more ground clearance, more badass, mo' bettah! I've never once regretted my 35's. I'd never run smaller, and in fact am looking into 37's...

My buddy has 35's on his 3rd gen right now.. found that the jump from 33's to 35's was almost 10 lbs/wheel. But the jump to 37's is only another 3 lbs/wheel.. i'm trying to get him to bite the bullet.

I think I'm going to try to fit these in with some nice aftermarket wheels.
305/70-17 (equates to 33.8x12) bfgoodrich mud terrain t/a km2 has a set in this size from discount tire.
Here's what I found regarding tire sizes.
Current stock: 265/75-16 = 31.6x10.4
295/75-16 = 33.4x11.6
295/70-17 = 33.3x11.6 (Nitto makes this size along with a few others)
285/75-17 = 33.8x11.2 (can't find any tires made in this size)
305/70-17 = 33.8x12
The 285/70-17 just wasn't going to cut it for me. (Not big enough to validate spending the money)
