Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I like how it looks!

What about your front 5100's? Which height setting did you choose?
Are the 883's high enough to keep the bilsteins at '0' notch?

i'll have to get a better picture. i kept the bilsteins at 0. the back has settled a little bit and it looks more level, but still has some rake. will get some more measurements after another week or so but right now it looks like about 2.5 for the front and a bit more than that in the back.

I posted a while back asking whether to get the OME 884 front coil springs or the Eibach 112-620p's (paired with bilstein 5100's). I ended up going with the Eibachs and love the way it turned out. Set the billies back down to the 0" position and threw the eibachs on and received exactly 2.5 inches of lift in the front (also added 1/4" top plate spacer to drivers side) and rides much better than it did when I was preloading the factory springs with billies set at 2.5". If anyone is interested in pics I can post them later.

Interesting. I seem to be having a different experience unfortunately. I just installed the Toytec/Bilstein 3" lift on my 07 V6 and I am pretty disappointed in the Eibach springs. Everything else about the lift is awesome but the front is so bloody stiff it basically does not absorb bumps anymore and feels like I should have just stuck a couple of wooden blocks in there instead as it would basically do the same thing. Going over speed bumps in parking lots is brutal. Anything resembling washboard is a joke. On the highway it jars the steering wheel sideways if you hit any bumps which is sketchy. I got about 3.5 inches of lift in the front on the lowest setting and 2" in the rear with the superflex springs which makes it sit more level than I prefer. Do you have a top plate spacer on your coilovers? It seems as though Toytec preassembled mine with a top plate spacer. I'm wondering if that should not be there. Im wishing I had held out for some better quality front coils now but I wanted to do the aftermarket UCA's as well and couldnt afford both.

I’m running 16x8 on a limited. I heard the same in that Sport models cannot fit 16” wheels

Here photo of 16x8

How did you fit 16” with the bigger limited calipers? What wheels? Spacers? I need this info

Im almost certain the limited calipers are the WH bigger ones

Please firm up

I did Wheeler's T1 with 5100s in the front (an Eibach spring), one perch up from the bottom. They felt stiff as hell at first, and I also have a V6. As I drove them, especially offroad, they relaxed a little more. Ultimately, I don't think I have enough weight in the truck 90% of the time (no armor/rack/empty backseats) and it feels similar to how you describe.

I think that a lot of these springs get designed for the V8's extra weight and then a slight increase of spring to account for accessories like winches and bumpers. When I load mine down with the wife, dog, and 150lbs of gear/water/etc, it rides much better. Another thing that I found, is that while the lift on paper up front for me is only 2.5" (and I think it's higher than that), my caster after alignment was shit. I did JBA UCAs and Superpro LCAs (left was seized, right not far from seizing) and getting everything back in spec fixed a lot of the steering and higher speed issues. Without caster these trucks just drive terribly at 50mph+. Additionally, if these bushings are worn out and you went from squishy stock springs to stiff higher spring rate springs, then you will now feel the wear on the bushings (every little bump gets amplified).

The one thing that has still not been fixed with all of this is that sometimes hitting a bump at 70mph makes it feel like the rear end is kicking out to the side. I suspected it was the panhard bar not being horizontal, but it's so damn close to horizontal that I can't see how an adjustable bar or a lift bracket would fix the issue.

TL;DR - Swapped from Michelin Defender LTX M/S to Pathfinder AT and am quite happy with the change.

--

I'm not running a lift (yet) or custom wheel/tire sizes (still running 265/70-17), but I did just switch up tire brands and am thrilled with the results.

When I bought the T4R, it had Michelin LTX M/S tires, which I am quite familiar with and ran on my Grand Cherokee for years. I didn't have any issue with them except that they eventually started wearing faster than I thought they should (didn't even come close to manufacturer rating). Turns out the front-end desperately needed an alignment.

Anyway, as Michelins aren't cheap, I was looking for more affordable alternatives with a little more aggressive tread pattern for better off-road. I ended up getting a Pathfinder AT set from Discount Tire. I must say I am very impressed. I think the tires are actually quieter than the Michelin set and are wearing great (though it's hard to really compare since those tires were garbage after the alignment destroyed them). I really like the tread pattern as well. I'm about to give them their first Utah winter (the tires have the three-peak snow stamp on them), so we'll see how they go there. All in all, I don't see much reason to buy the more expensive tires after running on these for over six months.

Whats up everyone, so im in the market for some 5100’s, anybody have a reliable source to order through or should i just go with the ones off amazon?

My lift

Here's my recently completed lift.

Bilstein 2" rear springs
Bilstein 5100s at 1.75" front with FJ springs (+1")
Stock tires but thinking I will put General Grabber X3s on at 255/75 r17

Recently installed the Eibach Pro Lift kit on my rig. Fronts are set one clip above the bottom. Tires are 265/70/17 Wildpeaks and have no rubbing issues.

Those might be the best pics of the Eibach lift I've seen so far online. How does it ride?

I can't give an apples-to-apples comparison as the my stock suspension was completely blown.

But the Eibach kit rides incredibly well. I think it's a great kit for the price and the warranty that Eibach backs it with.

My Limited has the WG smaller calipers. I assume roy326’s does too. I have one set of 16” rims. Even though my Limited has the smaller calipers, it came stock with 17” rims.

I have posted pics of my 4Runner in various stages of lift, but here’s the first pic with 33” tires, a 3” Toytec/Bilstein lift, and a Toytec 1” body lift:
