I have the Dobinsons in the boxes and am awaiting my install...296/599s with IMS...fronts set for about 1.25" lift (8.5" on the adjustment)...do you have any rubbing with the 265/70 R17s? I'm wondering if I have to stick with stock size or can up the diameter a bit....I want to go with Cooper AT3 4Ss...and they are only about 8/10ths of an inch larger than stock.

Much appreciated! The Dobinson's ride is stellar and I'm really enjoying it after around 6k miles. As far as rubbing, my Revo3s never touch anything, UNLESS I'm full lock in reverse going left. I get a pretty aggressive rub on the passenger fender liner, but nothing that cant be fixed with a little trimming, or just moving the liner forward a bit. Hope this helps! Yes I cut the front and rear bumpers down to get more clearance. The 4th gens have some bulky OEM bumpers. My brother and I are actually working on starting a company and have been prototyping 3rd gen and 4th gen armour products and will be going after an OEM+ look - keeping things super light weight and clean and simple. We will be utilizing a factory cut bumper design within our designs. I will start a thread for the 4th gen items once we begin testint.

That's awesome, you're right the 4th gen bumper is by far the ugliest of the bunch. I almost went outside yesterday and started cutting lol. Excited to hear about someone else designing something for 4th gens, let me know if you need a tester!

Can ANYONE confirm the largest new size tire that will fit under the factory size spare for an 06 Sport Edition with the tow package?

I want to upgrade to 285 BFG's from 265, but I want the spare in the factory spot, I would never put it on my roof, and I use my rear hatch area.

I have heard so many different answers.

I think 285s would fit, or at least before 275s would.

When I first got my 285's I would put my full size spare under the rear but had to air it down and ratchet strap it towards the back so it wouldn't rub on the panhard bar. Even doing that it would still rub. If you aren't going to carry it in the rear cargo area, put it on the roof or on a rear mounted tire carrier I would go with 275

You might have to do a little deflation but shouldn't be too bad if you do.

Take a look at all this rake. Decided it would be easier to install the rear setup first and do the front next weekend.

Wheels - Trail Edition
Tires - 265/65/17 Coopers
Front - stock and sagging
Rear - Bilstein 5160 shocks and Icon 2” coils

The fronts going to be getting Bilstein 6112 with 650lb springs and Total Chaos UCAs

Installed the rest today and really happy with how my lift turned out. Still need to get it aligned but hoping it settles a bit more. Sitting at just around 23” hub to fender at all 4 corners +/- 1/8”.

Front - Bilstein 6112 w/ 650lb coil
Rear - Bilstein 5160 and Icon 2” spring
Wheels - Early Trail Edition (+15 offset)
Tires - 265/65/17 (stock size)

Just converted from the Cornfed 1" Front Leveling Kit with stock Limited tires (265/60/18) to the Cornfed 3/2 Lift. Spidertrax wheel spacers, Michelin LTX A/T2 275/65/18 with XREAS preserved. There was no rubbing with these tires until I got the front end aligned. Now I've got a slight rub at the rear of the tire on the frame when cranked all the way. This weekend I'm going to try to adjust the camber a bit to move the wheel forward just a bit. If that works I'll be in heaven as I love the way it looks and drives. If that doesn't work, I am not sure what I will do. I cannot live with the tires rubbing since my son and I do some light offroading.

1) max size that will fit spare tire location on V8 with towing package

2) Weight. I want Wildpeaks but they seem to weigh so much more to at other tires. Example 285 weights 64lbs compared to KO2 at 51 lbs. Both load range C

Hi and I have 275/70/17 C Rated Wildpeaks on my V8. I can feel slight power loss but the looks make up for it.

Looks good! Those 275 Wildpeaks are on my list. Were you able to fit a spare? One reason I’m considering this size is the possibility of fitting a 275/70 or 255/75 in the spare with the V8 hitch.

I heard the 275 will fit via a YouTube video I saw. It requires trimming though per video and deflating the tire. Sometimes i wonder if the Wildpeak 275 is larger than a normal and can't say if it will fit.

According to the specs 275/70/17 Wildpeaks are 32.4” with most others measuring 32.2”

Yes a 285 will fit the factory wheel. You may need to trim the bumpers, remove move flaps, and relocate fender liner. See post 1 of Suspension Options / FAQ

tires will definitely fit on that wheel. [MENTION=531887]Tironeous[/MENTION] mentioned some other very relevant potential issues to anticipate. i had to remove my front mud flaps (rear are fine), push my fender liner in as far as possible, and also trim a small portion of the front bumper. all super easy to do and not even noticeable. that is, of course, if someone actually notices that you don't have the front flaps. ha!

the only other thing i'd check is the backspacing of those sport edition wheels you are going to use. i think the backspacing on those is pretty high (+), so your tire may hit the UCA even if you have aftermarket ones. i'm not sure though. hopefully someone else on here running 285's with those wheels can jump in and be of real help.
