Just got the 285s on a few days ago. I have no idea why I didn't do this sooner as it totally changes the look. Ignore the bad quality and reflections...I was in a hurry.

Thanks man. I finally got rid of the bro rake too by adding the DS 1.5 rear spacer to the driver side...worked perfectly. Both sides are with a 1/4" with a 1" rake front to back.
Your guess is as good as mine on the steps. Ha. My mind changes daily. But with the 265s I though it looked too "thin," but now I'm going to take them back off with the 285s. They should look even better.
I forget, which 285s are you going with? It shouldn't take that long to install. I can't wait to see the setup.

Oh ok. You'll love those tires. They should wear really good and get decent mpg too vs other ATs. Plus, don't they only way around 42-44lbs? That's awesome for a 285/70.
See here. Basically, they are 18" Enkei wheels designed for the FJ. Apparently it was a dealer installed option here in the southeast. Not sure if it was offered in other parts of the country. I got them from a friend.

2006 t4r V8 LTD.
Bilstein 5100 front and rear shocks.
Front shocks (adjustable perch set at #3.... 1.25") which gives it a +/- 2.5" lift.
1.5" rear spacer.
Hankook dynapro atm rf10 - 265 / 65 / 18
zero rub, even withOUT moving the inner liners forward.
BEFORE: getting hung up with no traction on worn out mall tires......

Thanks man! Read my previous post for the Trdsparks link. All I know is that they were sold on some fjs here in the southeast, and possibly other regions as well. I've seen 2 fjs with them here in Huntsville but they seem to be rare.
I actually bought mine from one of my friends.
I'm still running my factory spare. Although my plan is to have a 265/70/17 for a spare as they are roughly same diameter as my 285/60/18...only skinnier.

Darkie, That is what I was afraid the answer would be. My cargo area is an almost daily Labrador carrier. A spare tire back there wouldn't work.
DRZ and Moto, I have been told that with the full time 4wheel drive system that it is of the utmost importance that all 4 tires are the same diameter. Therefore, I have always included my spare tire in the rotation cycle. I would be hesitant to stuff a worn tire up there and have to drive a long distance on a smaller tire. Having a 265 up there sounds good except for the rotation cycle and having a skinnier tire for that time.
I was thinking about putting a tire mount in my roof rack. As soon I considered that I noticed how often I use the rack.
It looks like I am going to stick with 265's.

you could just buy one of those ARB (i think thats who makes it) quick tire mounts...it just hooks right up to your hitch mount, and you can buy one that allows you to still have use out of the hitch. trust me i know how you feel with the lab carrier...i have 2 dogs that are back there all the time so im gonna have to look into a tire mount once i upgrade the lift/tires as well
