Lift and Tire question 285/75/16

Hey,

So right now I own a stock 03 SR5 V8.

I want to fit 285/75/16 duratracs. or a similar diameter (33") on a different rim.

I will be using it in snow (taking it to Whistler as often as possible), off road at least 12 times a year, and also for towing (5000-7000lbs) occasionally.

I want to add the nice bumpers later but not yet.

So I was thinking OME lift (with the lightest springs). plus bodylift if needed?

How wide are the stock 16s? the duratracs require at least 7.5". If i do the bodylift do i still need backspacing and fender trimming?

There are tons of threads here that would've answered your question, including a sticky thread at the top of the 4th gen forum.

I don't have 285s but plan to get some soon so I've been researching it for a while and the general consensus is:

That should work but you're most likely gonna need to do a body mount chop and add new wheels or wheel spacers because the 285s are going to scrub your UCAs. There are several people running 285s on stock width (7") wheels but it would be best to upgrade. This would also give you the chance to buy wheels with 0 or less offset so that you won't have to buy wheel spacers.

You will also have to trim the fenders a bit, nothing crazy but it's most likely going to have to happen especially if you're gonna off road and stuff the wheels at odd angles. Adding a body lift will help but I don't think it's going to solve the rubbing completely with some trimming.

edit- the lift may also necessitate extended brake lines, or the relocation brackets overland warehouse sells, as well as sway bar relocation. That much lift may also require new UCAs to be properly aligned. Somehow these things (where I've said "may" throughout the post) aren't always necessary but they are in many cases.
