Just wanted to express some thanks to Toytec!

I placed my order for the BOSS kit last week, Miles called me and stated that the rear 5100s were on back order for at least a month and a half. Possibly more. He swapped the rear 5100s for 5125s free of charge. He took the time explained everything in full detail for me as lifts and suspension is foriegn to me including the difference between the two. (Body man by heart lol) multiple packages arrived two days ago and I can't be any more excited to install it.

One last major purchase is in the works. Should I keep the stock 2014 SR5 wheels with cooper stmaxx tires or purchase lvl8 mk6 wheels as well....hmmmmm

Awesome, toytec fan here as well! Lifes tough decisions... I think a better question should be would the wheel money be better spent on anything else you might need, (without reading about your truck) skids, sliders, lighting, etc?

Don't plan on doing any hardcore off roading. Mainly trails, camping. in that aspect, not sure if I would even benefit from having sliders and lights.


I've always heard great things about toytec which is the reason I decided to go with them. That first encounter with them gave me the utmost confidence with them.

I have a set of the Boss coil overs with rear SAW coils and 5100's sitting in my garage to go in myself. Can't wait! The Toytec folks were easy to work with and it arrived in one day, of course just going across town. Haha skids are next for me as that seems pretty important even for easy off-roading.
 
In terms of use in the real world, and not mfg specs, would that be risky in any way, or look weird? Or if we are within the approved width, should I not worry?

Do some google searching, and you should be able to find a picture of a tacoma on a beach with 255/80/17 mounted on SCS stealth wheels which are 8.5" wide.
Looks pretty good imo.

I highly doubt that the manufacturer's legal team is going to let them list a wheel width that is "risky in any way." If anything, the manufacturer is going to be on the conservative end.

In my unprofessional opinion, I don't think you will need to chop the body mount if you get the mk6 wheels in 8" wide 0 offset and the 255/80 st maxx.

I say this because fattiresrolling has the same wheels with 285/70 duratracs and a 2.5" lift and he barely kisses the bodymount. You may need to remove that piece of plastic that covers it though.

The 255/80 is cheaper on discount tire by about 40-50/tire compared to thde 285/70. With the 0 offset, how much farther from the fenders will the tires stick out? Please excuse my ignorance, I've been googling and searching but numbers are honestly foreign to me. Worse part is, I'm a paramedic administering medications hahahaha
 
My 8" wide 0 offset wheels moved the outer sidewall out approx 3/4" total on each side. I can't be much help otherwise.
