Lift tires mud flap rubs

I did the daystar lift front and back plus bfg at's (275/70) on stock wheels with spidertrax spacers. Typical 4R recipe. I get minor mudflap rub at full lock. I'm going to let it rub until it turns black and I can see where to trim...but any of you that already did this that can swing me a pointer pic I would be much appreciative. I'll post a pic once I clean the truck and can post up.

What was your alignment specs like?
Low caster setting that is common with a lift and stock UCA's will move the wheel back in the wheel well .Also, the spidertrax spacers will increase the chance of rubbing in the back as the arc of the wheel turning moves outward.

Having both and you get rubbing in the back as I had the same setup but with a 2 inch spacer up front and 275/70's. Rubbed with spidertrax ,took them off and no more rubbing.

I don't know if you offroad but the problem will be way worse when the suspension is compressed and you turn the wheel.

I have the same problem with my set-up on 285's, and worse yet I can't seem to convince an alignment tech to crank up the caster even close to 4° :pout:

Threaten to not pay him or go someplace else if he doesn't do what you want him to do!You have the same TC UCA's as me and should easily get +4 caster with camber and toe within specs as I get +5 out of my TC's.

I've been two places now: one was only able to get 1.4°, and my dealership gave up at 2.6°. both times I spoke directly with the techs, explained the capabilities of the TC uca's and my reasons for wanting 4°. I'm gonna have to start breaking kneecaps :redbrick:

I figured out the back rubbing. I removed the little square part above the mudflap (one with one speed clip and two phillips screws). The front bottom of fenderwell just barely catches it full lock in reverse. The allignment tech didn't give me a print out but he said he pushed the wheels forward as much as he could. I'm going to try to find the thread on the fenderwell trim modding.

You will probably have to explain to them in detail HOW to align it, I did. First push the rear adjusters all the way out to get max caster, then use top ball joint nut to get desired camber. You may need to show them, and make sure they torque the ball joint nut to 155 lbft, IIRC. Might want to then torque it yourself afterwards to be sure.

He has Total Chaos UCA's ,they don't have an adjustable ball joint to adjust camber like the LR's.Not needed though as TC's ball joints are already angled to get about +3 caster/camber from stock ones. I got +5 caster with the camber set to zero with them.

To align,I loosen both nuts on LCA cam bolts ...Turn rear cam bolt to get max caster reading on machine readout and then adjust front to bring camber to zero. That will bring caster down some so adjust rear one again to gain caster and adjust front one again to bring camber in and keep adjusting til you get a happy median of the cams .
People who don't know what they are doing or are just too lazy to to go back and forth adjusting adjust the front one for camber first and and then just are happy that caster is within the 2.2-4.0 specs.
