Likes and Don't likes about the 5th Generation Runner.

4th vs 5th
When one compares a 4th V6 with a 5th V6 , the 5th wins hands down
more space , more mpg, more torque , more safety .
I have the Ltd 2010 4wd with 20 inch wheels and the 5th Ltd is in a different class compared to the 4th v6 Ltd 4wd that I owned earlier .
I hear you say "what about the V8 in the 4th ?" I will glady give up some acceleration for 18-19mpg around town vs 13-14 mpg in the 4th.
If you have enough money and you want a V8 5th gen runner , go buy a lexus GX 460 which is exactly that , but will cost you $20K more for apples to apples accessories, and has less spaceand real expensive on gas . There are a bunch of V8 GX 470's around also that one can pick up pretty cheap as their mpg also sucks. The only people that seem to want to buy these $50-60K gas guzzlers are the business guys who can write of the lease and the 13mpg .
All I would change in the 5th gen is the engine .............why cant we get a diesel engine runner/ prado in the USA like I hear they have in Oz. Maybe the exhaust regs are easier down under?
Maybe when I get a little more cash I'll find an early GX470 with about 200K on it , strip out the gas engine and put a Cummins in it pull off the lexus emblems and stick a Prado plate on it ,as a weekend runaround and see if anyone notices.

I'm waiting for the 6th Gen
I understand it will look exactly like a 3rd Gen but will feature 4th gen V8 and trans and will have Torsen center diff and all the modern electronic goodies.
