Limited Edition Mod Thread

Hopefully someone can answer this question.

I am installing a full lift kit to get rid of the XREAS and was wondering if anyone ever tried to drive after disconnecting all shocks and removing the system? I will be removing the system and then driving roughly 25 minutes to a friends garage which I will have 4 hours to install the lift so I figured I should try to remove the XREAS prior to give me the full amount of time in the garage with the right tools for the job...

Anyone?!

I highly advise you do not disconnect the XREAS and then driving on it. You could risk damaging something or the shocks failing and causing an accident.

Removing the XREAS is pretty straight forward. I didn't remove the whole system just disconnect the lines at the first connection point come off the shocks, I circled the points in red. Then I removed the springs and struts and installed my Bilstein/OME combo on. Removing them at those points will also minimize oil leakage from the sytem

Then when you get home remove the rest of the system. Here's a picture of mine.

No problem. I was worried about it when I did mine last year so I did a lot of research. I did it all by myself, wasn't to bad but a weekend by myself in my garage without a spring compressor.

I posted a picture of my rig above.

Looks great, which OME springs and how does it ride now compared to stock XREAS??

I'm using the OME 885's in the front and 889's in the rear. I was told these would be harsh if I didn't have any weight in the front or year like a winch or spare tire carrier. But, I think it feels greats. It's more stiff that XREAS but in a good way.

I love it and glad I spent the money on it.

I'm in Humble/Atascocita area if you need any help. I did my lift at home and didn't take near 4 hours to remove the entire Xreas and do the full lift. Then I just drove to Javier's Auto the next day off Clay rd to get my alignment. I'm not sure what lift you went with but the OME895 really weren't much lift over stock, so I went with Icon 2". The pic below shows Icon/OME895e/Stock rear spring left to right. If you need anything give me a shout.

I'm getting almost 3" from my stock limited so I'm happy with it. But, it wasn't that much higher than my leveling kit. The ride is so much better though.

I got a ton of lift from my OME 2895E, pretty much the 2” as advertised. Did 2.5” up front so it still has some rake.

I know the bumper weighs about 130lbs and I'm sure has something to do with it. I originally set my bilstein 5100s/OME springs front on the highest setting and it sat almost 3" low in the back. Swapped in the icons and it raised about 1.5" I had to drop the fronts to the second setting and add a 1" Cornfed spacer to the rear to get it to level out. As you can see in my picture above the OME measure out less than an inch taller than the stock springs.

Got rid of the plastidip and replaced with vinyl. Found a creative way to blackout chrome trim as well. I think it looks flippen baller.

Anyone with a 2.5/1.5 SPACER lift? Could you post your hub to fender measurements? Trying to figure something out..

Looks great....Just got mine and would love to lift it but still want to learn more about spacers vs. just getting full out lift.
