Limited Edition Mod Thread

Has anyone here removed their 3rd row seating? I'm looking into doing this and replacing it with a base plate system. I don't want to spend a fortune on Goose Gear, and it looks like Sherpa's system is not on their site anymore. I'd just like to see some pictures if anyone has done it and any advice for making a DIY base plate for the cargo.

Not mine but I will be tackling this project next.

Some pretty cool idea's in the thread.

Welcome to the Forum and since I daily drive mine and in one day we could have all four season. I love having an all season tire. I have the BFG KO2 All Terrains on mine. I had the Mud version which absolutely sucked in the snow and ice. I can't tell you how many intersections I slid through when it was just snow. I hated them so much I that I finally went out and bought the all season version. I also never realized how loud they were till they were gone.

I wish I would have found this thread/forum sooner! So many questions and answers through experience! HAHA!
I would like to share my build of my 2016 Limited. But so far, to the person asking questions about wheels and tires...
We went with 17" Ultra wheels and 275/65 tires. We decided to go with ATX grabber series because we live in the PNW and it gets a bit messy out there. However for regular driving I think a good all season instead of an all terrain would be better.

You can click the link below my signature and see what I have done to my truck.

P.S. I've never been on a forum before so I don't know how to properly respond to anyone. LOL!

Also...what's a good photo hosting site to use to share (link) photos?

I picked up this 2021 4runner Limited Nighshde 4x4 about two weeks ago. I've added LED interior and license plate bulbs, a pedal commander, all weather floor mats, and wheel locks. I plan on adding a full-length roof rack and ladder for long-range target shooting. I'm still researching the roof racks at this point.

Sounds like a good plan and similar to what I want to do. Have you given any thought to a front bumper? I've only seen the ShrockWorks one and I'm starting to wonder if anyone will make a bumper that doesn't require ditching the radar system.

This may surprise you and I may take some teasing for saying so, but it may be worth considering buying someone’s stock 20” rims and a set of new Geolander G96b tires... They ride great on the highway and I’ve never had a single issue whether driving through deep snow and blizzards up to VT for fresh power or on sandy beaches for fishing. I’m not rock crawling but I do plenty of everything else, including plenty of highway speed+ driving

ETA I believe they also weigh less and could give better mpg’s over tires with more rubber

another idea would be to go to 17's and use 255/80/17 tires. yeah you'll gain some weight, but the small contact patch will help with rolling resistance. you'll also be in a much better place in terms of capability

Our Limited with 17s

Here is our limited with the Ultra Warlock 17s with 265/75
I did have to trim the front shroud a little due to slight rubbing but only on full turning. This setup was amazing going through Escalante and Zion.

Suspension upgrade

I've done quite a bit of searching but haven't found an answer to if the rear springs on a Limited need to be replaced when going with the 6160 rear shock combo. Not looking for a lift.

Anybody go with the TRD Pro Fox suspension or the Bilstein 6112/5160 Combo? Consensus seems to be the TRD Pro Fox suspension is better but it's more than twice the price at $2500 vs $1200.

Unless your looking for a rear lift, you can just use the oem springs

i went with the 6112/5160 combo, but have lifted 2.5 all around (dobinsons coils in the rear). without preload, these shocks will ride extremely well, especially in the front. if you're going to pay $2500 for shocks alone, i'd go the king/fox factory route from accutune and get their street tune. If you never want to mess with maintenance, the 6112/5160 route is the way to go

Any chance you can post a couple more pictures or message them to me as this has peaked my interest.

Had a little helper while I measured out the interior and cut the plywood.

Using the stock mounting holes from the seats, so I installed some supports in, since it's not completely flat.
