Long-Term Build

Nova Scotia

Yup, it should be sweet. I had to laugh when I saw your location. I flopped my truck in a ditch in Wolfville NS in 1999. I was on a two week holiday from Ontario. Good times!

Progress

More progress: Got the body panels bonded to both sides. Body lines look great!

Update

The truck is in the paint shop now. Should be out next week, then a week to re-assemble.

Did some shopping today... Marlin Crawler has a sale on their MC07-XD dual case adapters until Friday, so I ordered one. Should have it in a week or so.

Thought about going with 4.70:1 gears and 23-spline input to the rear shaft but I think it would be a bit much and the gears are back ordered until July so I went with the 21-spline input.

Time to clean up my spare transfer case for surgery.

You going to twin stick the rear?

Already done, about 4 years ago! :)

MC Twin Stick 080120.JPG

Picked up some free steel from work today. The pieces are 1/4" thick and about 12" x 19" without the bend. Going to cut these up to make bolt-on brackets for my sliders, four per side.

Progress

Got my MC crawl box built this weekend. Need to figure out what to do with the centre console and heater next since the box moves the twin-stick back about 6.5" and I don't want to lose the heater or the rear window / wiper switches.

I might just extend the console by about 4" and let the relocated twin stick eat into the plastic a bit. Will see.

Need to order the 3-link but I have been sidetracked looking at plasma cutters. Toys...

Was thinking about the dual cases, shifter location, cutting the floor and moving the rear heater and I think I will do this instead...

awesome build the fenders and panels are sick! may put them on my 87, nice paint job gives me an idea for mine , which is in primer still lol

This build is sick. Just getting started on my 1987. Probably won't go as intense as you. But this is very cool. Keep up the good work. I am envious.

Wow man those quarters/fenders look really good!

If only Toyotafiberglass would make the same panels for the 2nd gen runners

Sorry about that Pyroboy.

Your runner is also my new backround at work. Man that thing looks mean, cant get enough!!

Progress

Got my dual cases in on the long weekend and my $20 spare driveshaft fit right in! I had to drop the 6 degree wedges out of the back since I usually run a double cardan rear shaft but I may leave them out if the u-joint shaft runs smoothly. Just getting my shifters fugured out since I want to keep the console as close to stock as possible.

Borrowed a tranny jack which helped a lot.

Need to figure out how to get my console back in there to keep it looking stock (ish).

Hope to get my SAS done in the next few weeks. Think I will forget the 3-link and go with leafs for now.
