Loose shifter knob

I noticed this morning that my shifter knob is loose and turns freely. If I turn it to tighten it up, it's no longer straight. Is thre some secret to getting it tight and having it line up?

I would say just crank down on it, that's what I did when I changed mine but if it's still under warranty, let the dealer fix it.

I had that issue a while back, one full turn tighter and it has never moved since.

Had the same issue with a '16 limited, confirming that this works as well.
