Low profile tires on stock rims

LOL! why would you want to do that? that would look funny as hell on 4R stock 17" wheels! you want to go bigger rims on low profile not smaller rims on low profile.
Look up the Plus 1 Plus 2 or Plus 3 concept.
If you want lower profile tires--and normally wider tires, you need to increase the diameter of the wheels to keep the same overall diameter.
IF 265/65/17 is the stock size, then upping one size or plus 1 would make it 275/55/18.
Plus 2 would be 285/50 or 45/20
Plus 3 would have you rolling on rim edges and would actually decrease your ride.

What about 275/60/17?
According to my calculations, I would only lose 1/2" ground clearance (60% of 275mm minus 65% of 265mm).
This tire looks particularly interesting for better On-road performance:

The Yokohama AVS is standard on Mercedes G55 AMG. It is good for on-road (it's the original sports truck tire afterall), but wears quickly and is not for off-roading (or snow).
The Kumho is good for it's price, but it's noisy and wear quickly according to most reviews on Tirerack.
If i had to choose between these two, then i would pick Yokohama because it is a well-known quality brand.

My question is:
Would a 285 tire fit in the wheel well?
It's only 20mm (about 3/4") wider.
As far as ground clearance, it's exactly the same height.
I have no idea...you may need to ask your tire dealer to do a test fit. BTW, your screenname is a bit of a misnomer, isn't it??
