Lower Panel Envy!!!

Ok 2010 to 2013 has a lower panel that has a door on it. A door my 2014 4runner doesn't have. I went to the dealer trying to order it. And they said part #5540635050 is all the same thru out all the years.

Can does anyone know exactly what's the deal ??? I want the little door on my lower panel. Where the USB and the cigarette lighter is.

Used to have it in my 2012 4Runner. I always kept that door open anyways since you can't use any of the ports with the door closed. Besides it will interfere with being able to fit switches in the cubby below.

I would love to have it... I don't used any of those ports .

Those cubby holes are the most useless things I've ever seen on any car. As soon as you step on the gas everything flies out....

Hence me wanting the door to keep my garage door openner in the cubby hole next to ports

I'm actually with you on this. I like the panel too. I might try and hit up some junk yards

I keep my opener in the cubby. Doesn't seem to slide out with door open, but I guess since it flips up id rather have it than not. Funny a few years ago folks complained about that door and that it didn't cover the whole opening!

It's near the bottom of my list, but this is a mod I've considered before... I did some searching and found multiple part numbers:

5540635050 is the part number I came up with for 2010-13 (I assume this is the one with the door). The part numbers for 2014+ are 5540635070 and 5540635080 for the Limited (with ventilated seats). (#15 on the diagram)

Camelback lists the 2011 part for $93.90, and the 2014 for $72.98. It makes sense that the part with the door would cost a little extra.

The part from Camelback is probably the best bet. I've gotten parts from them and if you call, they will help make sure you get what you need for a great price and ship to your door. I was looking at mine and forgot I had cut it up a bit to mount my ham radio controls in the lower and cut out the back of another portion for cables for my pioneer HU. I originally thought all you needed was the door (which I can't close with my radio in the lower portion), but it doesn't seem like I can dismantle the door panel and give you that part. Sorry to get your hopes up, but the part list sounded so much better!
 
I went to visit an old friend @ Cabe Toyota in Long Beach...

Picked up a few parts. And the lower panel which he had in stock and gave me the hook up price on.

I like the door too. I have my phone usb cable plugged in, the extra length of cable goes in the little cubby next to the port, the door closed keeps the cable in place and only the tail hangs out to plug my phone in. I like it that way. The door open and all the extra cable is all over the place. Pretty sure that was its original intent as the bottom of the door has a gap to let cables pass through.
 
Nice! I didn't know the older one's had that! I might have to do that as well. Between bluetooth, and the charger under the armrest, I have never used either of those ports!
