LTDSC Build Thread

Lowe's sells a black steel painted mesh in the gutter department. It was $3.50 and was about 6"x36". Cut it to the opening. I bought one to cut and fit my opening before I installed the other LEDs.

I have to go to Lowe's anyway today. Thanks for the suggestion, ill check it out.

Truck looks sick man! love the blue color! Any bumpers in the future? I dont think any of us Pacific blue guys have any yet.

nothing planned at least. Im not a huge plate bumper fan and i dont think some styling i have now will go with tube bumpers. I dont mind the Demello bumper without hoop, but im not trying to upgrade my coilovers just to run a bumper.

Ill be cutting the lower grille out tomorrow, it hinders output pretty good.

LTDSC, I mounted mine a bit further forward than yours to keep from loosing the side flood of the light. kinds fits in the flow of the front bumper.

I used a couple of chunks of a 3"x3"x1/4" steel angle. and a hot knife to cut out the grill.

BTW I will be using the lessons learned from your build to keep mine on track... I do have to ask when you were running your spacer lift did you do the 3/2 lift or was it only a 2.5 up front? I have the RAS so I am stuck for a bit looking for FJ suspension to get a bit of lift but trying to figure out what rear spacers to match the front.

the ends of my light bar are spot pattern, thats why i mounted further back.

I used the ebay lift spacers for the front struts. It was 2.5 with Tacoma Struts so overall was around 3-3.5 lift.

small update.

I replaced my front door speakers with these JBL 6x9s

Amazon.com: JBL GTO938 6 x 9-Inch 3-Way Loudspeaker: Car Electronics

Was a perfect fit and very easy swap. I had a weird driver door wiring issue but thats now been resolved. It sounds GREAT and was overall a very easy swap. Im planning on doing the rear doors soon as well just to get rid of these 10 year old speakers.

Also swapped out the train horn button as i just wasnt liking it. It wasnt as clean looking and i cant count how many times i've dropped something on it and it went off.

I figured out my electrical smell in my switch. I found this wiring diagram on TW and went out and checked. I had pins 30 and 85 swapped. I just tested it for 30 minutes and zero smell. Output is also 10x brighter.

Congrats getting all that sorted out, cause I know it was bothersome.

it definitely made me worry and I've done a ton of electrical before so i couldnt understand. Something so simple but was overlooked. I feel a lot better about it now. Now i cant wait for it to get dark to REALLY see the output of this bar.

Also forgot to mention, What the hell is with that teaser/subliminal message there!!! :naughty:

Making me check out that Starbucks.. So today, I had to go and get me some lol (Venti Caramel Frap)

So i went to lowes, grabbed a few of the black gutter guards. These are very sturdy and i can manipulate them fairly easily. I need to get them to 34 1/4" and 4 1/8" and then bend the edges and secure it to the lower grille. My first attempt failed, i need to set up a jig with a straight edge to be able to fold over the metal for a clean line.

Ill update as i get things done. Should be perfect for what i need.

todays grille progress. I made a jig and cut to fit the board then screwed the mesh in to the board and bent the edges with a rubber mallet. Came out exactly how i wanted.

Great looking 4Runner man just went through all 30 pages. Love the methods I'm more than likely going to get Methods not sure if I'm going to go matte black or machined. Pretty bad I'm planning mods before I've even got a 4Runner LOL.
