Walked out Sunday morning to see this...
I went and talked to the body shop, they're going to repair it but they want me to make wheel liners first so a rock wont hit it again and damage it.
My plan for "custom" liners are get a thinner piece of sheet metal, like a 4x4 sheet and get longer L brackets and mimic the wheel arch from the wheel tub and bring it up to be hidden and then trace the arch on the inner fender. From there ill mount the L brackets and then mark holes on the sheet metal to attach it. It should be strong enough to deflect any rocks and also be hidden from view. Ill be making it this weekend as they want the fenders next week.

honestly because the top is where i got my damage. Also because its a 30" flap from NAPA auto parts. There also isnt much space to mount the brackets on the back side. Ill see how bad they get this weekend and see if theres a need to go lower or not.

Today's project was to create a fender liner that will protect the fiberglass for once these are fixed and to prevent this in the future.

The rubber ones are very versatile for many other purposes, I know I have used them in different applications.

Took a trip up to the mountains this weekend and went and explored. My GoPro got turned on during the drive so it was dead and i forgot my cord to charge it. So i just have a few pics
went and explored about 150 miles of logging roads and found a bunch of hidden lakes and relaxed. Was a great trip and the 4runner handled everything like a champ. These rear springs definitely a huge improvement, around 25mph on washboard roads it smooths completely out and glides across the dirt. Was a lot of fun, the 4runner is absolutely disgustingly dirty.

Beautiful pictures there Sam, both the scenery and the runner. Now 5 hrs hitting every crack and crevice for mud.
This is the down side of getting dirty
im still cleaning some mud from 3 weeks ago.:becky:
But LTDSC those custom gaurds look great make me want to rip off my plastic and just go along with something like.

Yes a down side, I have to pull full skids off myself. Put a sprinkler under there to presoak then pressure wash. No problem.
yeah i had to to spray about 2 hours with a garden hose the first day then pressure wash the next then one final rinse off with a garden hose. still have small dirt peices fall off from time to time but im sure ill find more once im under put my UCA's and endlinks on.
