I just took delivery on the Magnaflow stainless system and all I can say is "amazing"! This system should last a lifetime. It looks to be better quality then OEM. I'll give more feedback as soon as it is installed.

I still like mine although there is that 2K drone that takes getting use to. Last time I posted, it wasn't that apparent but to me, it seems like its almost louder inside than out. Many say exhaust break in and get louder, if it gets louder inside this is coming off. I needed someone to drive it while I stood by so I could hear what it sounded like. Not bad outside but I don't care what anyone says, there is a drone inside! I was after that stock V8 performance car sound but I don't think any stock V8 sounds like this inside. Outside is perfect though, not obnoxious at all. I might try dynomating the floor. It is tolerable but is very apparent to passengers that drive normal SUV's and cars(like my parents!) Especially on long gradual hills at posted speed limits. Cruise at 70 or so has a low, deep hum and not intrusive at all though. Just my .2 cents but mine is coming off if it gets any louder with age. That would be to bad because I really do like the sound outside!

Yes the spare is not an issue and is very easy to put on yourself. Quality appears to be very good.

This drone will be heard with any/all after-market exhaust to certain degrees, depending on the design of the muffler. This drone is even slightly (you have really listen) noticeable in the stock exhaust.

What do you think about using dynomat type material inside over the rear cargo/seat area above the muffler? Also, maybe adding another heat shield. If you look above the muffler, there is some type of heat shield. Was thinking of adding one more. Dynomat type material I think would be the way to go. I might try this sometime. Just an idea

I don't think it will help but it's worth a try. This drone is a harmonic vibration (not just sound) that is dampened or amplified by the muffler design. A Stock muffler will give the best damping with no tone. The more flow, the more tone and drone. I think the trick is to try and find a muffler with a happy medium. I can live with the 24" Magnaflow muffler's drone.

actually adding dynamat will work as i have known quite alot of BMW M'ers to add it to their rear deck and trunk area to cut down on the sound of their exhausts inside.

Its not going to work on the 4runner though since there is no wall in the rear to help block the noise, its pretty much a crap shoot. doing the bottom of the rear deck could help but probably not by much of squat.

Magnaflow is installed, see below. I got the cat-back kit with the 24" larger muffler and it sounds GREAT! No 2K RPM drone. The exhaust sounds the loudest when lightly accelerating (at low RPMs). When accelerating hard it's not as loud. Even when it's at its loudest it is not annoying. Cruising at highway speeds it has a low purr. The faster the speed the smoother and quieter it gets. I am really happy with the sound and quality. This is a must have mod!

wait till it breaksin all the way..mine sounds like a 6.0L Chevy v8 now after a few thousand miles on and 2K of that towing a 5000lb trailer at high rpms settings..

Its deep and throaty at lower rpm, and gets raspy and nasty at the highs...the techs at the toyota dealership cant stay out of neutral and rev'n it when its there.

I forgot to mention that after installing the Magnaflow exhaust the sulfur smell has been reduced to a very faint smell. I don't know if this will be temporary but it has made a big difference.

Yea, as said above... allow the muffler to break-in, then the smell should be gone.

Has anyone ever put this system on a v6? I want to get this exhaust but i dont want the rice burner sound. So does anyone have it on a v6 or heard it?

I don't hear any difference. The system definitely makes more power, especially on the top end. This graph is on the non-VVT-i V8, the VVT-i motor should make a little more.
