And word is there's 10 spots in the pilot program. Dude, eat the cost and offer these at a better discount in exchange for the free testing and free press.

Hey guys I just want to say I hear all of your concerns and will relay to magnuson your concerns and that you would like to have a representative jump on board to clarify their pricing, system etc. I am here to assist in any way I can and will update yall with whatever I get. This won't be a super high volume kit.. and not everyone is up to the task of being an early adopter... It's for just a few people...Not a way to get a cheap kit necessarily.. although that would be a nice perk. They will find early adopters.. its just a function of time... Basic economics are at play. Demand is high.. supply is 0. I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Since this is the first off production who take responsibility is this screws up my 4runner? I know, I know I would save $500 bucks to be your guinea pig.

I got the invitation also and would LOVE to do it. My truck is paid off, I am very good doing modifications like this myself and have space to do it, I'm very active on social media and would promote the crap out of it, I have another car to drive, etc... And I could really use it as I tow a boat and hill country here makes that interesting sometimes.

But I agree with others here, not for a $500 discount. That's really cheap for beta testing, marketing, instructions write-up, etc..

I'm sure they will find enough people though.

There are a very few people out there who, unless it came from the factory, are willing to spend $100 for one horsepower approximately. Also, this is a true performance mod on a non performance vehicle. A vehicle designed to go at sedate speeds, tow sedate loads and go sedately off road. Most mod for looks. You can't see this mod like wheels or a lift.
There will be a few who buy it. Most won't which is why these threads turn into cluster....

If I were going to spend $5K on a mod to go quicker it would be on a vehicle designed to go quick from the beginning. I rode in a Charger Hellcat the other day. That's a supercharger.

I threw my hat in as well, though I'm on the fence about actually getting selected too. I think if I am selected I will voice my concerns about the price, risk and time/shipping hassle of sending in the tune and if they won't do anything more I'd release my spot. Perhaps a concerted effort on this could get us a bit more off. We haven't even seen the pilot build agreement yet. That should be interesting.

It sounds like they expect us to pay for dyno time which, depending on your situation could get expensive. That alone is going to eat into a good deal of that "discount"

I am a bit surprised at some of the negativity on this thread. We have been waiting 8 years for someone to come out with a supercharger to beef up the anemic 270hp v6 in the 5th gen and it is months away (for those not selected for the pilot) and here now for those more adventurous (and fortunate enough to be picked). No more 53 page pointless threads on third hand information. No more rumor. No more conjecture. No more tearing apart Noobs who post "which supercharger should I get for my new 5th gen" (freshening old wounds over a frustrating question). It's go time. I am in 100% with money I have been hiding from my wife. It is ziploc baggies in the wall downstairs. So what if I have to mail my car's computer from Minnesota to California? So what if the discount is 9% less than the (unconfirmed) suggested retail that someone thought they heard at FJ? There have been multiple times in the last few years where I have had parts of my vehicle all over the garage and thought "this is crazy..." only to think a few days later "this is awesome" when I am behind the wheel and the mod turns out. I am sure I will be thinking the same thing when I am walking my ECU to the mailbox...

No offense to those who posted negatively, but time to cheer up. We may be able to pass people on the highway and go up hills again!

Application in. Hoping for the best. Better or worse, sooner or later, that baby's going under the hood.

This is a marketing program, if this had any real impact on development this wound be offered at "cost" which would be around $1k or less. Additionally this is a cast not CNCd part.

Remember your systems engineering training- verification is the most critical part of development.

If this was truly part of verification process there wouldn't be a post in a vehicle specific forum promoting a 9% sale price. This is a joke.
