Maint Req Light Flashing

I know that it's been discussed on here before I just couldn't find it but my Maint Req light has started flashing (I just hit 4K miles) every Toyota I have had has done this and I have had to take it in to the dealer and have it turned off, I know there is a way to do it I just can't remember what it is. Does anyone know? I don't really want to go to the dealership right now.

Why did the light come on? I know it should trip the light at 5k for an oil change, but why at 4k? Maybe you should see why the light came on, unless someone here has an idea?

I think it just flashes a few extra times upon startup when you are approaching the original oil change time (5,000 mile interval)

True. It does say "approximately 4500 miles" on page 569, which is not very clear to me either, but close enough to 4k. But the OP did ask how to reset it. Which is in there, page 501.

Had to look in up, because I knew I read that in there.

Anyone else feel like the manual is a choose your own adventure book??
