Hello All,

I'm new to T4R. Just want to get some opinions on the Truck before buying. Anyone in here from Philadelphia, PA area?
Just want to know about your buying experience with the local dealerships, who have the best pricing etc.
I did some research on edmunds' they're currently have a $1000 rebate or 2.9% up to 60months financing through Toyota. But I have contacted some dealerships and they told me there is a $1,500 rebate instead of $1,000. I do not see this on Toyota's website or KBB. Can anyone confirm this? Also is there anyone that is able to buy one below invoice + rebates?

Here's reality for pricing on any 4Runner...or Toyota for that matter. You should be able to get invoice and then take off the additional rebate. In other words...if MSRP for a particular vehicle you want is $30K and the invoice is $25K and the rebate is $2K...you should pay $23K. The exception is the Land Cruiser...most dealerships do not heavily discount the LC due to supply and demand. Also when a vehicle is a new design such as the FJ Cruiser...you will not see the heavy discounts. Don't haggle...just figure out what you should pay and offer. If they won't sell walk out...just don't forget to leave your number so they can call you 5 mintes later! If any of you guys are near VA and need prices my personal contact is @ McGeorge Toyota. PM me if you need his name. Our family has bought a high number of vehicles here and have always been given the same deal from day one. No hassle for us and you shouldn't have to either.

What i'm looking is a Sport V8 AWD (Blue) with Navi, moon roof, rear spoiler. I don't see any in-stock in all my local dealers with that option list. Is Navi an option for Sport? Also if they don't have the color/options how long does is usually take to order one?

Navigation is listed as an option for all the trims, but you basically only see Limiteds shipped with them. I have never seen a Sport with nav in NY or NJ. Even the Limiteds with nav are becoming tough to find.

Yeah they do seem to be rare now. I have yet to see one in any of my lcoal dealerships. But isn't it really easy to them to order the nav and have it install? If the truck I wanted doesn't have one.

Hey, I went to Champion, Team, Sloane and Faulkner Toyota all before buying. Before visiting the dealers, I did the online, quote request. I found that all dealers offered very attractive online prices but when I went in to discuss the deal in person, they weren't offering much for my trade. I ended up going with Faulkner. They worked with me just a little more than the others. I just took it in for the first oil change and they did it free of charge and ran it through the wash for me. My only complaint would be that they told me that Toyota does't offer a bumper to bumper warranty and they tried to scare me into buying one of their fluff maintenance plans. I informed Toyota customer service of this and they seemed unmoved.

You should find decent rebates and a great deal on a V8 4Runner, considering the rocketing gas prices these days.

Most dealers were selling the V8 for less than the V6, despite a higher sticker price. That's good for V8 buyers, but not so good for resale value down the road. I guess there are a lot of people sensitive to the higher gas prices.

Central City Toyota & Conicelli both offer free oil change/inspection for life as long as u buy the car there. as mention earlier I don't see any Sport V8 AWD with the color/option I wanted. How much did you pay for your truck?

V6 is 17city/21hwy and V8 is 16city/19hwy
I don't see much difference here but on the other hand I like the power of the V8 =)

I purchased my 4Runner from Tri-County Toyota right off of Route 422 near Limerick, PA. This is a fairly large dealership with a good selection of stock on the lot. I bought my 4Runner late in 2004 and took advantage of the year end pricing and a rebate.

I found they were VERY easy to deal with. When I went for a second test drive the sales manager suggested that I take it for "an extended test drive" and just bring it back the following night before closing. After I agreed, he put a tag on the 4Runner, had the fuel tank filled and handed me the keys and proof of insurance. Needless to say I really put the 4Runner through a workout and brought it back with a LOT more miles on it. Long story short I bought that 4Runner the following weekend. Before I picked it up they detailed it very well (it kinda got a "little" dirty during the extended test drive They even refilled the fuel tank a second time.

Since purchase I have taken the 4RUnner back for it's maintenance services which they performed well for a reasonable price. The service dept has Wednesday evening hours until 8pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm. Be advised that during the evening and Saturday hours only maintenance services are done AFAIK.

If you are agressive when it comes to acceleration and driving in general and typically drive 75-85mph then the EPA numbers will be very tough to achieve.

With my 4Runner I accelerate at a steady pace and "try" to keep my speed at no more than 5+ the posted limit. Doing that I usually get 15-16mpg around town and 18-20 on the highway. Those numbers go down to 12-14mpg in the snow and around 10mpg when towing.

YTD 2006 my mpg has been 16.73 which is not bad considering the winter weather. Since I have owned my T4R the average is 14.01 which included 22 tanks of fuel that got 8-10 mpg due to towing.

Those are my numbers in the Real World.

Mileage figures vary. Different driving habits or conditions are just two of the reasons. To get a ballpark figure, just look at some of the MPG polls on this forum.

I'm only trying to say that the numbers on the window sticker are optimistic, at best. In fact, if you look closely, you'll notice that they always print a range in tiny numbers above the larger, average figure.

17.6mpg is not too bad on average. i will think twice if its in the low 10s lol. will go on a test drive this weekend and see how that v8 feel
