I like the idea as I was thinking the same but have been waffling between matte black or maybe the carbon. Leaning more towards the matte black. Do you think you'll film the door handles or the chrome trim? Do you think you'll need to do the primer 94 also? (That's the 3m adhesion compound for the vinyl.)

Yes, if you use 3M primer 94 along the edges and the backside of the hood then they won't lift with temp./climate changes.

Primer 94 is a clear liquid and I just used one of those foam brushes and put a THIN coat all along the back side of the hood along where the seam is around the edges. Then I used the seam as a guide to cut the vinyl. You should see what I'm talking about and get the idea when you look under the hood.

No updates yet, I still have the hood sitting in the garage. I may just slap it on the car how it is, its pretty close to what matte black would look like. I had a guy lined up to do it but he bailed. I just wanted the vinyl for the extra protection.

One thing: Primer is not waterproof nor is it designed to be protection against the elements. The hood will rust quicker if only put in primer and will wear off quickly as primer does not harden like an automotive paint or clearcoat.
