Maximize your KDSS + extended travel shocks

Both.

Well that's handy. So if someone like myself, is experiencing lean with stock suspension (no lift) could this be an option for correcting it as opposed to a strut spacer? I'm currently using a strut spacer which I have recently found out makes the car unroadworthy in one state in Australia. If so I'd be willing to try it out.

This will still work with stock suspension .

Thanks mate, sounds like an easier solution

I have a better fix for the lean in the works. If you were to use these blocks to fix it you only suppose to use the one side that it’s leaning on. I didn’t design these blocks for that intention.

The kdss lean varies in the amount it leans. I have a cool fix that will help with any lean amount and can be adjusted.

I only have a slight lean of May 1/4” difference.

dom42 forgive me if this has been asked already (I was in on the first five pages and it has been a while since I have read, and caught the last 3 pages), I have 2.5" in the front and >2" in the rear, wouldn't a half shim be better, for us mild lift folks?

In my head it seems if I add this I will just be on the opposite side of the current extension problem. Which, possibly, follows with a...will you be making a half stack anytime in the future? :)

I’m not exactly sure what you are asking ! Are you saying to use only one block?

Not sure what you mean about ....

“ on the opposite side of the current extension problem”

These blocks are solely design and intended to fix a contact issue with track bar / pan hard bar ( in the rear ) and the kdss sway bar ( in the rear ) when running a shocks that allows enough droop from rear axle.

nah, nevermind (I deleted the post so as to not sound as stupid and also cause any confusion) I see it fixes rotation/angle of the swaybar (as well as what you mentioned) and the piston extension/position does not change (well it doesn't change regardless unless you're moving or articulating), not sure what I was thinking, I am going to blame that rogue thought on Covid-19 :D :frusty:

Yeah that sounds good, standing by. My lean was 20mm but have heard of some up to 35mm! The strut spacer has brought mine to within 3mm difference (still happy with that) so an adjustable solution would be great :thumb:

Lol. I welcome it.

I remember when I was first getting the 4Runner and those same ppl you talk about swear that the kdss version is the one not to get if I want to lift or mid/ long travel it.

I’m so going to prove every 1 wrong. It’s in the works.

Well smack my ass and call me Sally cuz I’m interested in that much travel.

I edited the first post talking about why I don’t have a spacer for the front to try to fix a kdss lean issue.

Took a long hiatus from T4R. Yall make me want too many things i cant afford at once. Finished my cargo platform, got full skids, and now I'm thinking about whats next...

Pleased to see so much progress on these. Can someone confirm my synopsis is correct? :

The standard spacers really correct the sway bar angle and are only really beneficial if you are currently making contact with the trac bar and/or want MT shocks? The longer versions in the works will allow for LT shocks?

KDSS toggle switch is gonna have to happen for sure! Rough ride a speed is by far the biggest downfall of kdss.

Cheers to dom.

Yea I’m working on the kdss Long travel. Well to me it more mid travel but the the 4 runner world it’s more long travel lol. Basically a 12” stroke 3.0 king bill be back there and maintain kdss for sure with a stage 2. You guys will lol when you see how simple it is to get more droop out of that sway bar with out having to make the kdss drop blocks taller.

Anyway. First in order is the kdss switch. 1000% it’s coming. I’m having a local company manufacture it for me. It’s really too time consuming for me to do. Those connectors and pins are not easy to work with.

At the same time I have a fix for the front kdss sway bushing mis alignment. The original idea I had with raising it up worked 95% but the tie rod end would just kiss it. So I threw that idea out the window. This idea will eliminate that whole factory bushing. Poor Design for anything more then stock travel.

And last ( for now) is a pan hard bar.

Maybe I'm confused here

on stock height suspension, wouldn't these blocks throw off the balance of the KDSS system with the sway bar somehow?

It basically just puts it in a different rotating axes.

Not needed for a kdss 4runner if you don’t actually have extended travel shocks that allow the issue to happen. “Stock height “ doesn’t matter because one could have a coil that’s sits at stock ride height but allows for more droop passed what a stock coil can do ( if you have the shocks that allow it ). Once you droop out a specific length the issue of the contact between sway bar and pan hard bar make contact. And that’s where the blocks fix it.

And then trying to achieve more down travel would require the stage 2 part of what I’m working on.

After having many conversations and being school by Dom. And wheeling in some very rutted out sections lately. Made me want more downward travel.

Just try to not sacrifice up travel to gain down travel.

Put it this way. And this is not to you. It’s for every1. If you build a setup that is designed to go fast. That setup will do very well everywhere. Design a setup for crawling ( ie more down travel, little up travel? And it will crawl but will suck out in the open.
