I've had mine on for a couple months now, and this past weekend I used them as a hi-lift point. the mounting plate separated from the frame rail under the weight on the truck, it was a little disconcerting to say the least.
I will be having a welder friend fab up a bracket to brace the mounting plate around the bottom of the frame rail, and may consider welding the slider to the frame itself.

That's too bad. Has anyone else had a problem with OPOR sliders with hi-lift?

Not the first time I hear of Metal Tech sliders breaking under pressure/bending when hitting something solid. :shrug:

Do you mean the bolts sheared off and caused the mounting brackets to separate from the frame rail, or did a weld give out? Pictures by any chance?

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but I guess luckily this happened to you in your driveway and not out on the trail!

That's a bummer. I ordered the bare SR5 ones with no other "upgrades" either and they delivered at 8:30am on Wednesday and after a few coats of spray on bedliner they were installed by lunch the same day.

No, no. Nothing sheared, nothing broke. But using a hi-lift right in front of the bump out caused a ¼" gap to form near the bottom between the mounting plate and frame leading to the main slider rail nearly coming in contact with the door. The hi-lift wasn't even supporting the full weight of the truck at this point. Everything returned to normal once it was back on the ground, but it was still unsettling enough to make me want to weld/reinforce the brackets prior to heavy trail use.

Haha, yeah I figured that out after I saw you post about it again in another thread. Sorry I completely read your previous post the wrong way, lol.

But, I know what you mean, still unnerving to see that happening on something that is meant to support the vehicle's weight, hopefully you figure out a way to beef it up!

So now looking at sliders for my 4runner... thinking im going a different route..

Everyone hates the wait from shrockworks, but you never hear of people saying they are not good quality.

I've always known MT to produce a superior product and have great customer service. Sure wish they would weigh in on these issues... :noidea: Seems like there have been several issues like this raised on this forum.

Seems like the QC has really hurt here lately on the OPOR sliders. Couple people have talked about miss manufactured sliders. I love the OPOR stuff but I just don't have time to deal with installing then uninstalling, returns, phone calls, etc. People have said metal tech has made it right each time. Seems like it was all around the time of the group buy.

For clarification, were these the OPOR sliders or the MetalTech sliders?

They filed suit and won against demello about a slider design that was copied or patented... Use Google for more detail

For those that have the MT or OPOR sliders, how well do they work as a step when getting into the truck for the shorter passengers?

I've seen the sliders referenced as OPOR and Metal Tech - are these the same or different? I'm not sure if OPOR is a different company and Meta Tech resales or not.

OPOR ones are different than metal tech. Metal tech sells them but I view them as slightly less rigid almost discount product. I own the OPOR ones and am EXTREMELY happy with them, but the metal tech ones are supposed to be a little more stout and come with the inside painted if I'm not mistaken. Compare the descriptions on metal tech's site, that's where I learned this. Or you can always give them a call for more info than I know.

P.S. The OPOR ones are really stout themselves though and I highly recommend them! I jacked the truck up with one of them the other day and they didn't flex in the slightest.
