There's a few of us Wisconsinites on the forum. I'm actually not there right now. I got Lyme disease and a few other tick infections back in the fall and am staying with family in Wyoming now trying to recover. But plan on getting back there in a few months!

My old build

So my Thule roof rack that I have had my RTT attached to for the past couple of months has caused a terrible rattle in the roof of the 4runner. The front half of the roof is not supported because of the sunroof so this is what has been causing the rattle. there have been several post where people have stiffened the roof using flat bar from the inside, but I didn't want to pull my headliner and risk damaging it. I decide that I would take a different approach and build a flat rack that will more evenly distribute the load on the roof. I built this with basic materials that can be found at your local hardware store and used a harbor freight welder to assemble it. Now I have no more rattles that tent is secure and it sits lower on the roof. :ylsmoke:

This is what it looked like on the top side before I welded it. Nice and flush, so that the tent sits even on the rack.

I actually used a few of your ideas in my build. Ended up with only 3/4" above the highest point and about 1/4" deflection with 200 lbs in the center.

The funny thing is that mine isn't small for. 3rd gen either ha-ha I have ~6" of lift in the rear and 3 1/2" in the front haha. It's still a 3.0, I could see into the engine bay from the fender because of the body lift. My favorite part is the 6 shocks on the rear Axel lol. It has a quad shock setup and then shocks in the stock location too [emoji14]

Definitely built to do different things haha

You can see in the last pic that he looks to be 5 or 6 inches taller than you. How big was his body lift? This thing looks like a mudder(nothin wrong with that). He must do mud drags in it or something, Wisconsinites love that stuff

1-2" I'd say, it may be a mudder, but I could see something like this flexing it out at the cliffs, miobi, or apple valley too lol
