I thought Sherwood Forest campground would still be open. But it closed early. West 40 RV is closed for the season also. Looking around but if I can't find camping close by probably wont' make it up.

Found a municipal campground in Biwabik that's only about 5 miles away. I'll be across the bridge just after the DNR checkin at 10am Sat. if you want to meet up.

Anyone near Chicago done an engine swap before and willing to help me do one? I picked up a 3rd gen with a misfire thinking it would be a quick fix but it turns out valves are burnt in cylinder 5 and it has a headgasket issue. The frame just has minor surface rust and is solid. I saw 5vz-fe's posted on craigslist for $849, making it seem like replacing the engine is a more cost effective solution but I don't have the tools or space to do a swap and not enough money to have a shop do it.
I know it's a long stretch but is anyone willing to help me do a swap for some food and beer? I can wrench, just that I don't have the tools and space to complete a swap.
If not, anyone interest in a misfire cylinder 5 98 limited with a solid frame and clean body? :cowboy:

So any tips for doing this on the ground with just some big jack stands? First I have to clean the underbody. I got some Marine clean and a pressure washer. Sadly I live on a dirt road so this is gonna suck no matter what.
The application is the easy part. Gotta get all this crap off first.

Wear gloves, a hat that's backwards, safety glasses(goggles are better), and a mask. That way any of the rust flakes or paint don't get on the important parts of your face or hair.

Sounds like a plan. I got a case of this stuff so I'm treating the doors and the inside of the frame as well. It might suck but I like my frame in one nice solid piece.

It's way better than repairing 2ft of frame that I just got done with doing this past week. It took me 2 months and a lot of hours to get it right.

I hear ya there. I just wish I had a lift.....it would make my life a LOT easier. One of these days I'll have it. Looking at buying about 3 years down the road. Nice farm house and a car nut owns it. He has a huge pole barn with 220 run to it, a couple of garage doors, and enough space for a lift lol. I don't need a HD one so they aren't that expensive really.

Lol ik right? It's okay I'll be back in the land of curds, whey, and fermented malt beverages in no time even if just lol. I'm gonna work for 2-3 years and live down there. Then I'll buy some land just over the boarder and build a Morton or equivalent steel building that is a shop with a small apartment in it lol.

My dads friend from high school bought a Quonset hut from a military surplus auction completely disassembled and put it back together piece by piece then made the front half an apartment and the back half a wood workshop. It's pretty cool. And it's a good way to go for a house and work space.

I live in Toledo, I know all about that jeep life here in Jeep Country. Currently working at Dana Headquarters. Hopefully going to get a job at the new Dana Axle facility or at the Jeep facility when I grad in May.

Yeah ill do a trip there with my 1st gen but never ever in my 3rd gen again. It's just a shit show lol. I'd much rather take a trip to the UP for wheeling lol.Yeah it sucks here, when come here check out:

I used to go to the UP a lot when I lived up near GB. Now I go to Jackson county wisconsin which is like a mini UP lol. I am still finding clay on my 3rd gen and I went there 2 years ago...
I am going to be working in belvidere and living in roscoe.
