I don't how I missed this!? This fourm is moving fast these days.

Okki- I like the idea alot! Never used kydex before. What would be the best way for fastening the material in place; some form of adhesive?

it looks like there are mounting screw locations that could be used that were used for the OEM plastic. This is best illustrated in your picture of the trim panel removed.

I'm guessing there would be similar options for the rear. You could also drill some holes and use factory-style push pins. (like used on the radiator shroud etc)

Bumper looks interesting. To date the Hefty Fab Rear Bumper was the clear standout. This design has a lot of potential to be aesthetically and functional.

I want to learn more about the extra ground clearance over the Hefty once this is finished. I also want to learn which one can ship completed to me for DIY installation.

I would be interested in seeing this bumper powder coated black and then the upper section painted sliver to match the looks of the stock truck. It looks like there is a good differentiation line where the swing arm mount is for the upper to be body color and the lower section to be black. Kinda like this, edited to mimic Trail Edition Fender arch.

I see what your saying. I thought you where talking about doing it within the interior than the exterior. Thats is for sure a possibility. I might just brainstorm over that for awhile. Thanks Okki!
 
Got word that I should be picking the truck up early next week, hopefully. Luke said the bumper came out great. He was thinking that the trim piece below the tail lights, the stainless part, would be left un coated and let the metal color come out, the rest will be black.

Counting the hours down.

Craftsman ship is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I am extremely happy with the outcome. I have the three can holder with the tire carrier and hi lift holder setup to accomodate up to a 35" tire (it is adjustable too, being able to bring it closer to the truck or further away). The swing outs HUG the lines of the truck but not close enough to cause damage. There is plenty of space for flexing. The swing outs are also controlled by a hydro strut on each side and the latch is very sturdy and adjustable as the bumper ages.

For those that might be interested, here is the news. Luke can reproduce the bumper! If you are able to bring the truck to him he has jigs made and can build it on your truck. For those that are crafty and can weld, he is probably going to make it a DIY kit. Shipping? Give him a call or email.

You want photos of underneath you say? Ok...

Ok so the hitch is hidden...

Not sure of the tow rating but I don't care cause i rarely do.

And extra plate was welded on with a nut to add an extra mounting spot for the bumper. This thing is not going ANYWHERE. Very well thought out and built.

I get my full size spare on Monday and going wheeling on Saturday so stay tuned for the dirt shots.

1) Hows the view from the backup camera; it looks like you have one installed?

2) What's your take on adding weather stripping on the side and under the tail lights?

3a) Are the swing arms removable? and 3b) if so, is the under body spare hoist still accessible?

And last but not least... Does Luke have any friends closer to Indianapolis that can do the install because driving to San Fran is a bit much for a weekend :D

I think you've officially convinced me on Luke's over Hefty Fabs bumper!

I think your bumper is fantastic. Very detailed and skilled craftmanship has gone into that design. Love the finish as well.

One more image request. Could you post an image of the bumper with the rear hatch open? I would love to see the full surface area.

Can wait to see some "dirty" pictures of it :)
