Mini H1 6.0 Retrofit

Wow... where to start? Well I did install them, last week. But I had to put the FXRs back in. Due to choosing the "LS460 specialist" from TRS, this project has been the absolute worst C-F imaginable. His lousy packaging led to broken headlights in shipping, which he then repaired. Then, after I installed them the projectors were mounted so high, the adjusting screw couldn't bring them down far enough. That's the very short version.

I am sooooo very sorry I didn't listen to that little voice and use Lightwerkz. They have done two perfect retrofits for me. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Oh, the LS460s are phenominal lights, sadly they are useless as is. I have no idea what I'm doing from here. I want to hold the retrofitter's feet to the fire, but I have no power, plus I want nothing further to do with him. Ugh.

So sorry to hear this. Disturbing to see someone from TRS screw it up and not make it right. I'd be vivid. Would making a stink of it on social media help? Let me know, doing so helped me have a slightly botched retro redone (years later, but they made things right).

I sort of know how you feel. When I got my TLs retro'ed, NO ONE told me of the sensitive polarity issue TLs suffer from. As soon as I got them, I plugged everything in and the solenoid fried. Realizing my wiring wasn't correct, I thought it was a result of me screwing up the wiring. In addition, I, too, ignored the inside voice telling me to use a voltmeter to MAKE SURE all was ok. I trusted they were truly PnP............ Months later (could've been a year, I don't remember) I had them "redone" with Caesar's competition (was cheaper, company: lightmodz)..... again, when I recieved them, I was assured it was PnP. Guess what? I blew the solenoid. Again. Everything was connected correctly. Again, I didn't use a voltmeter. I wanted to scream. He (2nd retrofitter) told me afterwards, "oh yeah, these TLs are polarity sensitive". I said EFF it and left it alone. This is when I learned of the sensitive solenoids. After analyzing both situations, I realized both times, the same mistake was made. I couldn't believe it had happened to me twice and (at the time), there was very limited info on this issue. I felt cheated (strangely), but at the end of the day, it was my fault.

I'm taking my time with this third try (3x a charm, right?) and am triple checking everything before I plug away.

Having someone retrofit your stuff is crazy expensive, I know theoretically how to do it, but I lack the skills to do the right way. If I did, I would've redone them and I would also offer to "fix" your gratis.

Sucks to hear about this, I know exactly who you are talking about. Even though he claims his retros have no affiliation with TRS, its solely just him. His work looks good in pictures, but surprised that he messed yours up so badly.

Anyway, sounds like poor craftsmanship on that guys part and should be held accountable. Forget about the poor packing, sounds like they were not installed right (philsey says projectors were mounted too high). I was just suggesting that if other members "bother" him, maybe that would pressure this guy to make things right. I have an online business and know the value of customer service, especially on social media. [MENTION=51186]philsey[/MENTION] ,we want to help, let us know!

Some Clarification: My retros were NOT botched, but were a bit off. Wrong choice of words and I didn't mean to mislead anyone. Lightwerkz is the best retrofitter out there. (Anyone) Do the research.

The terrible packaging and shitty retrofitting was done by Andrew @ TRS.
Interestingly, I got an email from Caesar a little while ago, offering to do repairs. Either he's watching or ......

I just received your email and was about to write you back before this thread was brought to my attention. While yes I do work at TRS, the work has zero to do with TRS in any aspect. Nothing is done on TRS property nor on TRS' time, so please understand they have no part in this good or bad and any hard feelings should not be directed at them in any way.

If you're upset with me personally / my work, that's another issue. We can work it out however you want. I certainly apologize to you, to my employer (TRS), and any others this affects. I do this service out of hobby but admittedly it can't always work as well as someone who does it 24/7/365 like a dedicated retrofitter.

I'll follow up with you through email.

My fee for retrofitting has been refunded. When I'm back home I'll probably send the headlights to Lightwerkz to see if they're salvageable. Further interest s/b via p.m.
