Well, I didn't make it... but I'm going on Friday to fart around for the weekend with the girlfriend. Any suggestions on where to camp, given that BFE doesn't seem to mean anywhere in specific?
I take it the sand flats are an acceptable area to camp, but given that it won't be a huge meet this upcoming weekend, which would be more ideal? Definitely don't want to stay in a camp ground, looking to wind up somewhere pretty private. Also, some trail recommendations would be cool - not trying to hit anything I couldn't do alone, and girlfriend spotting? Yeaaa....
layball: 5100's, Toytec/Eibach up front, LC 8ish wraps in back... 265/75/16, no armor, no locker...
Hope to join the pack next year or whenever though.

There are some nice camp spots on kane creek Road. Also sand flats road had some good ones. As for primitive I don't know. They are there I just don't know them.
As for trails I would hit fins and things. If you camp sand flats road you will be right by there. Also try some of the trails like long Canyon. Not hard but awesome views. Check out traildamage.com they have all the trails listed with degree of difficulty.

Privacy doesn't come easy in Moab on a summer weekend... Sand Flats will likely be close to capacity, but it does offer access to well marked not remote trails. For privacy I would recommend something on the North side like off of Blue Hills Rd or HWY 313. Though this area is somewhat remote and can be pretty harsh this time of year. Buy good maps, know your limits (and your rigs). Also know that if you are camping outside of a camp ground you must pack out all solid human waste and can be ticketed if you do not a have a proper method to do so.
Also the guidebook linked here previously or traildamage, though great resources for deciding which trails to try, they do not constitute having a good map.

Fins 'n things looks awesome, will be sure to check that out. Hopefully I can pick up a trail guide somewhere on the way or in town, even if it costs me a few bucks extra over what it'd be on Amazon... can't trust that I'd get it in time.

Moab Map Pack - National Geographic Store
This is what you need^^^ Should be able to able to find at any sporting goods store, Cabela's etc. If you do decide to do Fins know that you will drag your hitch a lot. It won't hurt it, but it sounds ugly. You may hit your front bumper depending on line choice and height. Good luck.

Not this year. I was dragging ass and that was the farthest I could make it. My buddy with a double cab taco on 35s and 6" lift didn't even make it nor did the SAS'd 4runner on 38.5s.

6 hours of cleaning, 3 inside and 3 out and the runner is looking relatively presentable again 
This was my only real damage, a sad looking, dented tail pipe and a bit of rock rash on the bumper.
Oh and the inevitable additions to my awesome collection of desert pinstripes
I got off pretty easy compared to some, but then I generally took it pretty easy as well.

Good thing you're already planning on a new rear bumper then. Gotta get those stiffer springs in the back too.
Still, you did a bit more than I would have been willing to try if I had a new 2014. I worry about scratching my truck, and it's 13 years old.

Glad you made it out and got some good scenery in bud. Looking forwar to what you end up doing with your rig.
