More bad news...

You need to claim for the depreciated value of your truck, which could run into the thousands. It's certainly more than a hood deflector. Toyota USA should also be informed.

Do you have pictures?

are you being compensated for all the time they are keeping your 4runner? i have a hard time letting anyone have it for a few hours. if i had to go weeks without it i would loose my mind.

I plan on calling or writing them this week.

No, the only thing I have recieved is the deflector. I am just lucky I can use one of my family members cars to get to work.

I dont have any pics, when Im at the dealer Im usually to mad to be thinking about taking them.

I dont even know what I should ask the dealership for to properly compensate me. I highly doubt they would even consider giving me a new 4runner. When I pick it up at the end of the week I will have to see what it looks like.

With a name like 'Glock' I think you need to walk in there next time with some 'back up' to get your point and demands met! Some 'crazy eyes' might not hurt either. They need to be providing your transportation 100%, whether in the form of a rental car or dealership loaner. I personally would ask for a dealership loaner and treat that car/truck with the same respect yours has received.

My Similar Story

I had an issue when I purchased my 2010 Limited - I bought it and when we were doing the final walk around I pointed out a dent that was on the hood of the car. I told them I did not want to take it but they said they would make it right so I took it home.

Two Mondays later I dropped it off with their body shop (they did give me a loan car). After they had it for 4 days to do paintless dent repair they brought it out and said it was good as new -- far from the case. The vehicle still had the dent in the hood and also had a scratch on the hood and another small dent.

I spoke with them and they said leave it there again and they made another attempt to fix it - still not any better. At this point I told them I was not messing with it anymore - I demanded that they find me another car or give me my trade back and void the whole transaction. Turns out they still had my car on the lot (for sale on their used car lot) so I left with my old car and all of the voided transaction paperwork.

I waited about a month or so and purchased another one from another dealer (this time with a $1000 Toyota rebate and a much better deal).

Just thought I would share my story... I am not sure the total length of ownership for you but I had mine for a bit over 3 weeks with almost 1000 miles on it and I gave it back to them!!

Good Luck!

They need to give you a new vehicle. Keep complaining up the ladder until you find someone that will do the right thing. If that doesn't ever happen, I agree with others and say you should get a lawyer. I would think any lawyer would jump at the oppurtunity to fix this! I would call the local news station too! MAKE SOME NOISE.

I work at an insurance defense law firm...When a dealership takes your vehicle in for repairs they should be held responsible for any torts that result while they are in custody of your vehicle. Without getting too technical it is considered a bailment for the mutual benefit of both parties. The dealership takes possession of your vehicle to make repairs for you and in return they get paid. There should be available remedies to you. give me a few days and I'll see what I can come up with for your particular situation. I'll try to pass along some "friendly" information, as I am not licensed in PA. Good luck in the mean time.

Thank you very much for the help.

Last night I wrote a letter to Toyota explaining the whole situation. I sent it out this morning, so I will have to wait and see what they say.

I used this mailing address:

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
19001 South Western Ave.
Dept. WC11
Torrance, CA 90501

I wish you all the very best with this - you have been far more patient than most people probably would have been. I recommend you take a camera with you when you go to pick up so you have photos to provide to Toyota should this need to go further.
