Most Wanted SUV Under $35,000

I was just looking around edmunds.com and came across this. The 4Runner is the edmunds editors most wanted SUV under $35,000. I guess the people at edmunds know what they are doing! Make sure you check out the video as well so you can hear them praise the 4Runner. The only problem they had with the 4Runner was the cargo space. Here is more evidence for what a great vehicle the 4Runner is!

What's wierd to me is that one of the magazine shows (Motorweek, etc..) had a "Comparo" of Mid SUV's.

Compared 6 SUV's and the 4Runner came in 5th. Never said ANYTHING about its V8 power. Cherokee (hemi) came in first with the WORST ground clearance, but they loved the power. 0-60 in 6.8 for the hemi. No mention of the 4Runner 0-60 (7 flat ish?).... WHAT A JOKE!

I think the Nissan Pathfinder came in 2nd. I drove one and it was JUNK and slow!

These guys MUST get paid by the car companies...

I can understand the 4Runner getting 2nd, if not first. But 5th?

I agree. I challenge anybody to go test drive all of the mid-sized SUV's out there and find one better than the 4Runner in terms of build quality, resale value, and reliability. I've owned an Explorer in the past and now it just doesn't make sense to buy any other SUV other than the 4Runner.

That's exactly what I did back in Sept/Oct when i was looking.

Drove:

Jeep GC Hemi
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Dodge Durango
Ford Explorer
Ford F150

And some others I forgot about. I didn't see Nissan because I never liked the pathfinders, although at Paragon there was a nice lifted Titan I liked.

In the end, I picked the 4Runner for overall value, off-road capability and on road ride. Looks like I wasn't alone.

The show you are talking about is Car and Driver. It is funny because I missed that episode when it first aired so I figured I would TiVo a few episodes so I could see it if they re-ran it. They re-aired it a few nights ago and I was literally screaming at the TV. It wasn't even funny how angry I was after watching it. I had the same feelings as you after watching the show. For the pathfinder, they said that its 0-60 time was just SHORT of second. Which truck do you think came in second? They strategically managed to MISS all of the strong points of the 4Runner. They also failed to state how the 4Runner had the shortest braking time out of the bunch. There was a thread started about this awhile ago but I can't find it.

Oh, don't watch this episode when you are in a bad mood. It will just make you more angry!!:bash:
