Just read this over on MT:

"In spring 2013, the Tundra will relaunch with the 4.0-liter V-6 receiving direct-injection technology to reach 300 hp"

So will the 4R get this also or maybe just a matter of when?

Not going to happen to the T4R. The Tacomas are still being fitted with the older 235hp 1GR-FE, even though the new 1GR is 265hp and dual VVTI.

Not to mention our 150 series Land Cruiser Prados (AKA 4Runners here) are built in Japan and the Tacoma and it's motor are built and sold only in the Americas. Different motor for a different platform/purpose.
