All of these people posting their tire pics at 2000 pix wide, and here you are posting these amazing scenery pics at nearly thumbnail size. What gives??

the site just always shrinks them down...plus everytime I upload a photo or two it takes so long I swear I've crashed the server. I don't want to be responsible for the death of t4r!

also hiked that mountain behind Runner....gained 2000 ft in elevation in 2 miles of trail. 9665 ft at the top!

Adding to my "when I win the lottery" mod list.... been looking at RV's just to get an idea of what's out there. I figure the thrill of tent camping will start to wear off eventually and a small camper is the next step (several years down the road). Found these online a while back but saw one in person for the first time this weekend. Pretty nifty little set up. And a Jeep Wrangler was pulling it so I figured it would be a breeze for Runner to haul it around!

Adding to my "when I win the lottery" mod list.... been looking at RV's just to get an idea of what's out there. I figure the thrill of tent camping will start to wear off eventually and a small camper is the next step (several years down the road). Found these online a while back but saw one in person for the first time this weekend. Pretty nifty little set up. That's very similar to what you see the sheep herder's using in the high passes in CO. They park them and work out of them the entire summer. Looks ideal and gives better protection in bear country.

more protection, more comfort. Having a bathroom and indoor kitchen would be nice. Don't want to be hauling around a huge monster RV, just something to make the trips better

My dog made a friend with a baby Mose the night, it didn't take long for momma Mose to disapprove. Luckily I kept the everyone in the truck.

They are the only animal that scares me, so I tend to give them a lot of respect.

I think it's a great idea and the right size. Put some BFG's and a small lift kit on it and it'll look seriously cool. :biggrin1:

Runner's reputation as a moose magnet continues! Just got to Grand Teton and my first stop was to check one favorite moose spot. Three big bulls were hanging out. Got some awesome pics - I'll post in a few days.

Almost forgot to post up my moose pics! These guys are my " three moose-keteers" of Grand Teton Park. Been following them for 5 years now. They're always together!




And then two of them decided to take a little stroll right in front of me. Never had a really good look at the guy on the right before. He tends to hang back a little and he's never come out of the willows. Definitely the old man of the trio


Didn't take any pictures of Runner on this trip - that's a first! The smoke was too bad and anything over 50' away was just a hazy mess.

Its a secret.... :tape: ...can't let people know or it might not stay traffic free!

Its part of the original stagecoach trail. Its single lane, one way traffic from just behind Mammoth Hotel to just inside the NW entrance gate. Did you notice that dirt road to the right of the entrance station as you entered the park? That's the end of the stagecoach road. I like the view better back there - you're up a lot higher and can get a better view of the whole valley. There's a few ponds and things that you can't see from the main road. The stagecoach road is only open once the ground has dried up in the summer - easier to maintain if no one drives in muddy conditions.


Now don't tell anybody....

UPDATE!
The smoke is currently gone - just a slight haze coming from CA and ID now and then. But there is a big fire in the park - the Spruce Fire. The smoke plume was HUGE this last weekend and the fire blew up from like 100 acres Friday morning to over 2000 Saturday evening! The winds kept it heading east so the majority of the park was smoke free.
Road construction is still going strong - the crews are frantically trying to finish up paving and whatnot between Norris and Mammoth - so be prepared to wait for that.
The elk and buffalo have "babysitters" now to watch and make sure no one gets too close. Literally they have park employees following these poor animals around so the visitors stay at a safe distance....so sad.
And traffic was still a PITA this last weekend - hopefully it will continue to calm down before your trip. I was stuck in an elk jam Saturday night for about an hour. Only got 4 miles in an hour all so people could take pictures of the elk IN THE DARK!!!! I was about maxed out in my road rage-iness. Thankfully a Ranger showed up and got people moving along.
