I need opinions on the best way to lift my 99 4 runner about 3 inches. It is 4wd and a limited. I want to put a set of 22's on it and possibly 35×12.50×22 mud tires on it. Is 3 inches going to be enough lift?

Post this in the 3rd gen section 3" is probably enough but it will be nearly impossible to drive. You will have to regear front and rear diffs

22s? You don't plan to wheel it right?
Those tires will cost you a pretty penny. If I was going that route I'd get a tire that would last longer.

I'm not totally sure what route I'm going to go yet. 20's or 22's either way i think all I want is a 3 inch lift. Does anyone have an opinion on what is the biggest tire I can put on a 20" rim with a 3" lift. My stock 2001 4 runner sport has 275/60r20's on it now. I'm not sure how big i can go with a 3" lift.

With a 3" lift and little trimming/hammering you could probably fit 35s under it.
