My budget build 3rd Gen

Dropped it off this morning to get it aligned. Took it to the dealership, I have a few friends that work there as techs, service writers and even the service manager. Hoping they take it easy on me... So far I'm pretty happy with the mods, it rides nicer, stops a lot better and it's definitely tighter. Curious to see how much better it gets when it tracks straight. LOL.
 
Got her back. $79.99 for the alignment and she's dead on. The tech that worked on it was in the service area when I came in, talked to me about the truck for a few minutes and then asked me if I would sell it to him. I said no but I took that as a big compliment.

I also took some time to tighten up the belts, I changed the AC, PS and Alternator belts the other day, PS belt was still squealing like hell. Got it all straightened out. Good for my sanity. LOL
 
Nice job on the working man's build sir. It's good to see these alongside the big money, big time builds because they give EVERYONE ideas on things they can do to fix up their rigs.

Kudos, btw, on helping out the Bullies. F'in love these dogs. I've got a rednose.
 
Thanks brother. I like turning wrenches, it's a nice change of pace from my day to day stuff but honestly, the credit has to go to Zack. I couldn't have done it without him, he knows a lot more about it than I do, I just followed his lead. I love this thing though, I'm into it for less than $4500 total and it's a beast. When the Toyota tech asked if I'd sell it to him a was flattered. Thought that was a big compliment to get.

And thanks, I'm a huge Pitbull person. My Pitbull pretty goes everywhere with me including the office sometimes. (I'm a mortgage banker.). Looks a bit put of place but he's awesome, he never met anyone he doesn't love. His new best friend is my son's hampster. LOL. They get such a bad rap, I loge OT when I can change someone's mind about them.
 
For sure. When somebody in the know makes a fair offer on a vehicle you've built up, it's definitely a sign you've done things right.

So true about changing minds. It's amazing how many people see Korn (my pitty) and think she's some kind of maniac... then they pet her, see her do tricks, see her love other dogs, sleep with cats, sniff but not bite the rats I feed to my snake, hide behind me when she sees other dogs, so on and so on, and they're like: "Really? I never knew".

They're dogs just like any other... all depends on how you raise 'em.

BigFish, they don't come any better than Pitbulls IMO. I van name 10 great Pitbull stories for every bad one you hear. We also nave a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix (he came with my wife.) we don't let him near anyone because he's a viscous little f*ck. He really is mean as hell. I would trust Hank (my Pitbull) to babysit my son.

Did you paint the inside of the rim as well? (inside lip) i see alot of people paint their rims and leave that stock and to me it doesnt look as good. I cant tell from your pics if you did or not.

btw, like the progress on your runner, looks great!
 
I didn't but I didn't mask them either. They got a good amount of overspray on them but I didn't actually paint them. The big Tundra brakes help hide a lot of the inside of the wheel though.

I've been lurking here a long time (got major lust for a 3rd gen 4R like your old Highlander) but cracked up on the "viscous little f*ck" description. Thanks for the laugh, and great build! I'll be following along in case I pull the trigger on a 3rd gen. Got one in mind, but it's auto, and I really prefer manual. Any thoughts on converting to stick?
 
Thanks, I miss the Highlander. And Benny the Chihuahua is a bad little f*cker. We don't let anyone near him.

As far as converting an auto to manual, can certainly be done but doubt it's cost effective. I'd just keep looking for a manual.
 
Maybe I have missed this in past threads but you used taco LbJs?! Why? And they are different but better?

Yes I did indeed use Taco LBJ's and OTRE's. They're bigger than the 4Runner parts and stronger. They're also a direct fit swap. Singtoe actually gets the credit for figuring that out.
 
Thanks, yeah, swapping would be a PITA and I have too many projects as it is. Looking forward to your next upgrade installment. BTW, I know you don't wheel much, but are you planning to take that thing out to Rausch any time?
