My Fellow Canadians...

got screwed at open road so i got my deposit back and went somewhere else. ordered the same mag grey trail edition at another dealership. now i have to wait until jan 20th.

I had a bad experience too with Open Road Port Moody when I bought my IS250. I ended up buying it from Regency.

Care to share what happened?

rather not get into all the details but the meat and potatoes of it was that they treated me like shit.

my trade in was appraised at 12k back in august and they said thats what they'd give me once it came to my car arriving. when i went in to pay for my car they threw 8500 at me and said anything more than that would be ludicrous. i had checked out the used value of my car at other dealerships around bc and it was priced between 11k-16k. so 8500 was insulting my intelligence. i had to sit sometime while i was there going back and forth trying to get the value higher and after 3 hours of arguing had made it to 9500. this still was no where near the 12k that i had originally been promised but i figured with my deposit of 500 bux, 10k was better than nothing.

now onto the meat part of my story. i had walked into the dealership on the 13th on a whim to go check out the cars as someone had posted that they had arrived at the dealership on the 8th. low and behold, my mag grey trail edition was in the showroom on DEMO. people were getting in and out of it, ****ing around with the dials and slamming the rear cargo sliding tray in and out. while i was sitting there for 3 hours i could see atleast 60-80 people messing with the car.

i had placed a deposit and ordered the car and was willing to pay 50k for a NEW car. not one that is used and had been put on demo. i called up another dealership to ask about this and they said that they normally take one of their allotments and place it on demo so that those who had placed deposits got NEW cars, which is exactly what i thought (what i mean by this is that they order a seprate car for demo purposes only, not put a customers car on demo).

so i walk in, and the guy i had ordered the car from was there. the look on his face was surprise and disappointment because obviously he didnt want us show up as he had put the car on demo. i asked the guy if this is my car and he said that it was. i asked what it was doing on demo and he dodged the question and said "hey, i'll try to get a free oil change thrown in for ya".

so obviously i was pretty confused as well as pissed off from the get go.

at the end of it, the guy was starting to get on my nerves. i got pissed, signed the release papers for my car and demanded my deposit back. i had payed the deposit and was willing to pay the rest for a NEW car, not one that had been on demo.

my dad called up a friend of his and he called up his friend whose a manager at another toyota dealership. within two days i had secured myself a NEW 2010 4runner in mag grey trail edition which is to arrive jan 20th. also got a higher trade in value for my car as well. i had made it very clear that the car was to be sold to me in new condition and they said that they would do the vehicle delivery inspection right infront of me (take off the white plastic covers for the hood, remove the plastic seat covers, etc..).

i coulda been driving my runner around on monday but openroad really left a sour taste in my mouth. i emailed their head office with a long list of complaints and have not received any replies at all. which again, shows towards the level of customer service that they care to show.

i definetly wont be shopping with open road again for life. thats for sure, there are far too many dealerships out there to have to tie myself down to a bunch of jerks.

so yeah, Mr. K. i hope that the car that you receive is new. i'm not sure if they plan on ****ing around with your car but i wouldnt be surprised if they did, so make sure to go over it carefully. if the kms on the car seem too high (as the vehicle is delivered on trailers so i dont see why it should have more than 10k on the car), and other things seem wrong, chances are that something is.

i had closely inspected my 4runner that was on demo in the showroom and the door sills had been scuffed up from people getting in and out of them all day. this was supposed to be my first NEW car and i had saved a long time to get it. i'm going to make sure i get a new car.

funny, i was thinking about buying an is250 from there before i started looking at the 4runner. guess its a good thing i didnt go to open road port moody if i was going to buy a lexus.

Oh man, that was yours in the show room and they were going to try and get you a a free oil change?!?!
:wtf:
A demo car is not a new car. Everyone messes with the demo to play with all the features. That sucks big time. Hope everything works out for ya.

haha i guess you were one of the people who tried out my car eh? :happens:

yeah, its worth the wait for me. a man is as only as good as his word, and a company is only as good as the men it hires. if thats how they're gonna be then they can all go to hell. other dealerships who provide good service will get my money.
