My first plate bumper build

Thanks everyone!

I found some epdm rubber seal with an adhesive backing that's about 3/4" thick, hopefully that's enough. I want it to close off the gap like bandit did.
 
I really like this! Great work!

The only thing i'd change would be adding a triple hoop (like the ARB) but it really looks great!

It looks great. I love it when members build their own armor. Just makes me have to get me in the shop and build one of my own. Great work.
 
So.... does this mean I can place my order with you. I really like what you did. That's awesome. That is bad ass. I really would love to have one. That's if you were thinking about making some more or, maybe 1 for me. You rock man.
 
The turn signals are from custom dynamics, they are made for motorcycles. I think they are called tru flex. And sorry, I don't have any plans for production. As of right now this is the one and only.
 
wow ,,, that is a fine example of modern metal art......

just a side note but how much would you estimate its weight to be?
 
I never put it on a scale, but without the lights and winch it felt to be about 90lbs. Then switching out my cable for synthetic line and an aluminum Hawse fairlead saved about 30lbs. I have the springs from a 99 on it, which are 1" longer. Which in the front doesn't mean that its 1" taller, because I'm currently using the factory struts. It means there is just more preload, so they are stiffer than stock. So when I put the fully loaded bumper on it only sags down about 1/2"
 
Awesome bumper, looks like a pro did it. What's your trade? :) Cool blinkers too. Only thing I would have done differently is angle the corners back so they don't stick out quite so much, but that's just me.
 
Awesome build! I'll be using this thread when I build mine in a couple months. One question, and sorry it if missed it. When lights did yo get for your turn signals?

Yeah, I was trying to keep the same angle that the headlights are at, but if I did it again I wouldn't worry about that and pull the corners in a little. But at least this way if I want to put some hoops on down the road I'll have room. Oh, and I'm basically just a heavy equipment operator, although I've had a bunch of different jobs. But anyone can do this if they have access to the right tools, cause I only started welding here and there about a year ago.

4x8 sheet of 3/16ths plate = Not sure, dad bought that for me to get me off my ass and get started. I was thinking 150
12"x48" sheet of 1/8th and 1" round stock = 30
Shackle hangers = 30

So around 210 for the bumper itself.

The accessories are pricey, but you'd have that with any purchased bumper. Since I only spent 60 on the bumper I splurged on this stuff.

LED Spot lights = 200
LED flood lights = 80
Wiring harnesses = 40
Kick ass custom laser etched carling rocker switches not yet installed (for this and future side and rear lighting) =100
Blue sea power distribution block and wiring not yet installed = 65
Synthetic rope, hook, and fairlead = 175
Took the winch off my Range Rover = 0
LED turn signals = 75
D rings = 25

So around 760 for all the accessories ( ouch, I hadn't added that up yet), but that part could be done MUCH cheaper if you wanted to.

I just saw your runner in augusta, i had just passed you as you pulled into the gas station.

You are officially the first t4r.org member i have seen out, let alone seen in ks. unfortunatley i didn't notice your bumper till i passed you. ironically i was just looking at your bumper build last night on this forum. I almost turned around to check out ur bumper in person, but…. didn't want to bother u.
long story longer… congrats on your bumper man, it really does look great !
 
That's funny! I saw you pass me when I pulled in, and I was thinking to myself, I bet he's on t4r. You should have stopped, I would have chatted you up. I live just up the street from that gas station, so you might see me around!
