My four-year build: Supra content inside

Well more setbacks. Idle control valve is not parking at key-off... ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE TWEAK'D HARNESS!!!! Also the wastegates wouldn't even crack open at 30psi. We found that both of them had damaged diaphragms and they are being shipped off to TiAL to be rebuilt and tested. Possibly another week or so of down time and then we should be set for tuning.
 
makes me want to think twice about getting a tweak'd performance harness for my setup (going GTE and single. Mine is an original NA). I was actually talking with Matt and Len at the HRE Open House event that happened just this past weekend about their opinions on tweak'd performance harnesses and Matt was telling me about some of the problems you were having with yours. Hope you get everything figured out!
 
Man I sure as hell wouldn't get a Tweak'd harness if I were you. The problems associated with that harness have been DETRIMENTAL to the progress of this build. At first they were answering our calls and emails back abou problems but when they started not to know what was going on and the problems continued to pile up they stopped responding. We are still trying to get this IAC motor situation figured out. It is harness and not motor related.

Len's one of my best friends and pretty much the only other local Supra owner out here. Did you see his Lamborghini at the event?

Are you billed by FSM for all the issues with this tweaked harness and the hours that go into the troubleshooting?
 
Yes I am and at this point FSR has nearly 40 hours into fixing the harness. I would only hope Tweak'd will step up to the plate and cover at least some of the cost but who knows what will happen. Once ALL the problems are done and we know we have fixed it entirely, I will be forwarding the invoice over to them and going from there.
 
Amazing story. Im a former MK3 owner and I miss the Supra Forums. Maybe I should try to remember my password and go poke around a bit. In the early 2000's that was the best forum ever!

Hey man! Yeah back when the 6spd guys were really battling it out for top spot, there were some fierce threads on that forum! It's still a lot of fun, you should come check it out.

Basically we got all the issues with the wiring figured out. We put the car on the dyno and started playing around and discovered the wastegates weren't opening at 20psi like they should (sticking to around 30-32psi actually). They were sent in to TiAL for rebuilds and came back and are still doing the same thing. Instead of continuing to deal with that situation I decided to go with two new TurboSmart wastegates which FSR keep in stock. We pulled one of the TiAL gates off and put on a TurboSmart and already verified the new wastegate is cracking at the right pressure while the TiAL is not. Not exactly sure why this but that's the case. This was like at the beginning of this week and now the dump tubes are being reflanged to fit the TurboSmarts and we will proceed with tuning in the next day or two.

We were trying to burn the last of the 91 octane (only used to break the motor in) on the dyno while also comparing the TurboSmart and TiAL gate and weren't even able to get a full pull in and she already broke 600hp. The car comes alive around 4700RPM and from 5200RPM and on it just wants to go to the moon.
 
Last week we swapped out the Precision 1000cc injectors with some ID1300 high-imp injectors and dropped our duty cycle by 20%, giving us exactly what we need to max the turbo out. Car is making high 600, low 700 on the dyno on every pull still trying to dial in the specifics. Should have an 800hp tune by the end of the week and then we put the candy in the tank and let her really rip!!

Car made almost 900hp today with C16. We started to experience spark blowout above 850hp so we will be replacing the old original coils with some brand new ones and trying again for the magic 4-digit figure horsepower figure.

Yeah I saw his Lamborghini at the event. Looks real clean! I didn't know it was his at the time though because I didn't meet him until I was about to leave. I was able to figure out which Lambo at the event his was once we added each other on Facebook.
 
Total nightmare getting this thing in but worked out great in the end. Took like 16 straight hours. Then went to put some 110 octane in. Got on the throttle in 3rd on the first setting (650hp) only once and it left me shaking for a good hour.









 
I stumbled across this by accident, awesome build man, I really enjoyed looking through the pictures. I just picked up a 2015 WRX so it's nice to see a fellow enthusiast on this forum.
