I came back to the 4runner because of my Jeep. The last one I liked was my 05 TJU. My 2012 JK had only 31k miles in March 2019 when I bought my 19TRD. We had an 05 4r and it is the one vehicle we both missed. In fact, I was buying my wife's Camry while my Jeep was on the rack getting new engine heads, another recall done, and trying to get a customer satisfaction repair for the bubbling paint on the door hinges and hard top. It was stock, garage kept and immaculate (I have a work vehicle so not a daily driver). The Toyota dealer didn't have to try hard to talk me into a new 4ruuner at the same time.

The only Jeep I want now is an 80's CJ for a toy.

A global shortage of semiconductor chips is forcing Stellantis to temporally close five North American plants starting next week, the company confirmed Friday afternoon.

The impacted plants are in Illinois, Michigan, Mexico and two in Ontario, Canada. They build an array of products for the company – from older Ram 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep models to minivans and Dodge and Chrysler cars. The facilities, formerly part of Fiat Chrysler, are expected to be closed from Monday through early or mid-April, according to the company.

The closest I ever came to owning a Jeep was a rental that I had the pleasure (sucked) of having for 5 days. It was a Gladiator and let’s just say by the end of day 1 I was on the phone with the rental company trying to get rid of it. That experience alone made me realize that I would never own a Jeep. Yes it might be easy to do mods and throw big tires on, but omg what a crapy and uncomfortable interior. It made my 4Runner feel like a luxury vehicle.

My Son is a off roading big Jeep fan, pretty much all he's ever owned. He's had 4 different ones over the passed 13 years.

I owned 5 jeeps and don't miss any of them.

This I don’t understand. I’ve owned my 1995 4Runner for 17 years. (Granted I’ve done lots to it) but still. So that part of vehicle ownership just loses me. BUT If you don’t recommenced buying Jeeps, then why did you keep buying Jeeps? THAT makes even less sense to me. (All due respect of course. Trying to be humorous. )

Its a good question.

My Son's answer is that he was just a Jeep guy (Loves Jeeps) and doesn't mind dealing with there qwerks. But appreciated that others may not want to deal with those qwerks/issues so he makes the appropriate recommendation to the individual. For me Jeeps are way too noisy on the highway and i don't like things that have too many "qwerks". lol

My guess is Jeep guys are just really good people that are addicted to suffering. :rofl:

At least you tried. Honestly I'm jealous of my buddies with Jeeps when they get on the trail. Front axle, disconnecting swaybar, super stretchy suspension front and back, both lockers, and with big tires you can go straight up against a wall.

But when we're driving cross country to awesome spots, Jeep loses it's appeal very quick... I don't think I could suffer 10-12 hour driving stretch with the noise, swaying, bounciness, and drifting. Like you're constantly trying to keep it in your lane and the cabin seems to amplify the wind/road noise, not block it.
