Ok, I will straight up give you some "cred" for even telling us that.

I've always loved Jeeps and I tried so hard to forgive the faults of my JK. I would even tell people asking about owning one...Only consider it if you are a Jeep guy. If you're not sure...you aren't one. I could have forgiven the uncomfortable, noisy ride, and quirks if it had been watertight in the rain and didn't have so many quality control issues.

I had an '05 TJU and an '05 4Runner at the same time. I tried the JK as combination of the two but went back to the 4Runner. I sincerely hope your luck is better than mine was.

joking aside, it sucks when something goes wrong with a new car you just bought. whether it being brand new or new to you after purchasing it used. I can relate...

when my wife bought her first car (brand new), literally a week later a wooden parking garage gate fell on the roof, dented it up a bit and left a nice mark. dealer took care of that and did a superb buff/polishing job to the point where you can't even tell anything happened aside from the little dent

about 500 miles after we had purchased our RX some 19 year old driving by himself for the first time (literally got his license that same day) rear ended me at a stop light, I wasn't even moving. he paid for a new bumper cover, it was a fairly low speed collision so no other damage but still a pain to have to deal so early on

hope the dealer takes care of this and you can get back on the trails. still sucks because it takes time out of your day to deal with it

Jeep, Dodge maker Stellantis temporarily closing five North American plants due to chip shortage

A global shortage of semiconductor chips is forcing Stellantis to temporally close five North American plants starting next week, the company confirmed Friday afternoon.

The impacted plants are in Illinois, Michigan, Mexico and two in Ontario, Canada. They build an array of products for the company – from older Ram 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep models to minivans and Dodge and Chrysler cars. The facilities, formerly part of Fiat Chrysler, are expected to be closed from Monday through early or mid-April, according to the company.

This isn't a Stellantis/Fiat/Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep thing, it's every manufacturer. Everyone, even up to big trucks, are getting hit by this and shutting down production lines and plants.

I mean, I don't care for the SFCDRJ family of vehicles, but this isn't just in their corner.

I was reading that there is a problem with electronics parts availability and function with BMW Motorcycles and Triumph motorcycles going on in the recent past. They also mentioned BMW automotive.

All of the chip makers expected demand to drop drastically last year, due to COVID, so they slashed production. Turns out chip demand actually went up. Now what would have been a minor shortage, had production stayed up, has turned into a major shortage.

Yeah, I feel for the guy. I used to be a Jeep guy, too. I did that for long enough, though, so I know how it goes when you play stupid games. You win stupid prizes!

I saw a Ram truck pulled off the side of the road today. It looks like the rear driveshaft dropped. What a shame.

They said it was a rock or something. No more sounds. No repairs were done. But we know how this goes. I’ve always wanted a Jeep and I don’t regret it. I just regret that status of FCA or whatever company owns Jeep.

I owned an 05’ LJ for 5 years and it was super capable offroad, and was probably one of the most enjoyable vehicles to own in regards to its capabilities. SA are king when it comes to wheeling, so they will always be superior to 4R in this regard. However, within this five year ownership I replaced 2 alternators, 8 thermostats, 2 opda’s, 1 starter, 4 rotors, a really bad case of the DW, the top started to leak, and then the electrical problems began to set in. I did not modify this vehicle at all. It was 100% stock. The LJ was totaled in 2012. I paid 22k for it in 06 and was paid out 23k for the loss. They have equity for sure and are a blast to wheel, but the reliability of them was too much for me to deal with as a daily driver. All this being said, I miss that LJ more than any other vehicle I’ve ever owned. Hope OP has a better experience with the wrangler than I did.

Things change. You're talking about a vehicle which was made 16 years ago, under different ownership.

Having worked as a master tech in various shops in the past, and having many friends who still do, I can list bad vehicles from every manufacturer.

I have two FCA products. One is making 1100 hp and torque. The only problem it has had is needing to build the Tremec transmission stronger to handle far more power than it was rated for.

The Dually pretty much just pulls a nearly 27k 5th wheel. No problems at all.

I had a Dodge Dually back in the mid 90's. Nowhere near the build quality, reliability, power, or capability of my late model RAM.
