My New "Land Cruiser"

On Friday, we purchase the replacement to our 2008 Sienna...another Sienna!

This is the 2017 Sienna Limited Premium with Silver exterior and Chestnut (brown) interior. I really want chestnut interior...other option was Ash (light gray).

Just went on a long trip and love it! My kids love it. Very good with wind noise; road noise is fairly good. They love the recliner mode of the 2nd row captain chairs.

Gas pedal is long travel and kinda saps all the power of the new engine and 8-speed auto. Oh well, it's a minivan. :)

Not sure how I feel about the 8spd in these. Will have to see how they drive beyond the short test drive we take them on for PDI.

Congrats though! :)

Not really concern about 8-speed because it is basically a Lexus powertrain i think. What i find most offensive is the lazy throttle that makes my 2008 Sienna feel like a hot rod! But, i guess fuel economy rules and i appreciate the new powertrain in that aspect.

The new JBL system is very bass heavy and lacking good definition in treble.

Otherwise, i don't have much to complain about. Very smooth ride. Easy to drive too. Very rigid structure.

It's basically a Lexus transmission from what I hear also. The new GDI engine is derived from the unit in the 3rd gen Tacoma, which is also dogged with pitiful throttle response and power for what the engine should be capable of.

They are still nice cruisers though, been wanting to get my parents into one to replace their old beat up Odyssey.

Maybe you need to pay attention to the quotes around Land Cruiser. You do realize that i was kidding, right? Geez.

But on another topic, i don't see many TLC off-roading or any with any mods either on the highway. So, most TLCs (if not 99%) are mall crawlers.
 
That's a pretty sweet interior.

Maybe it just needs a speed booster to fix that lazy throttle. Works for the 5th gen 4Runners!

Yeah Ody is very nice, but ride is not as smooth and significantly noisier than Sienna.

I have 3 kids. My 8- and 7- year olds sit in the 2nd row lounge captain chairs with leg support extended...and their seats are pushed all the way to rear! My 4 year old sits in middle of 3rd row. So, all 3 sit way back and they all watch movies together or play iPads. The new Blu-Ray/DVD player with the ultra-wide screen is pretty sweet! And the one good thing about the JBL system is that the bass is quite thunderous with the movie!
 
Mini vans are actually great vehicles, a lot of people seem to hate them but they're the most practical vehicle a family can own. I just don't see the point of having such a nice one, if the kids are anything like I was, they'll tear it up..

My parent's 2004 sienna with the 3.3 V6 has seen more abuse than a car should ever experience. 250,000 miles, and one rebuilt tranny so far. Not just interior abuse; after I got my license it saw quite a bit of full throttle & squeeling tire sliding around west Virginia mountain roads for hours at a time :rockon: best road trip vehicles you can get, in my opinion. Surprisingly fast and well-balanced when not loaded down.

It is my daily driver as well. So, there are certain requirements...such as memory seats (wife also drives), leather (for spills), blind spot monitoring (safety), and HIDs (i drive at night often). (The higher-end Sienna is also quieter because of acoustics windshield.)

We also drive long distances because airfare for 5 people can be hefty!
