So I found this cool thing that plus into your OBDII port and sits on your dash. It'll give you gps, link to your phone and give you notifications, show you your gas mileage, show you what your check engine light code means, and a lot more other stuff. They're going to be released sometime in 2015 and are $200 off if you pre-order. Also, for every person you refer, you get $30 off. They cost $300 right now (so $500 after they're released) so if I get 10 people mine is free. Would anyone else want to get one? They look very cool and very helpful.

I'd love to see it in "mpg mode and codes". Hand gestures is cool as well. $500 is expensive, they need to lower that price.

Yes well it's $300 right now plus -$30 for every person you refer. So that's why I posted on here. If I get 10 people would would for sure buy one. I'll totally order one because it would be free.
 
I'm really surprised this hasn't become more common. Vette's and a select few others have been running HUD's for years. With all the push behind keeping your eyes on the road I'd think this would be a top contender.

I know, and I'd expect more people to be interested on here. I thought this post would somewhat blow up. Hey I noticed you have Billstein 5100s on your 4Runner. How do you know which ones to get? Are all the 5100s compatible with a lot of vehicles? I've seen where on Amazon it said it would fit a Tundra but not my 4Runner so I don't know how to tell the difference. I'm thinking I may upgrade to those. My front struts are sill original at 282k miles. Rear shocks are Gabriel HiJackers that leak. I'm looking for a tiny lift but adjustable and still super smooth if possible.
 
It's funny you posted this, as I was just searching the web a couple days ago for add-on HUDs. I never saw that one.
I had one in my Grand Prix, which I traded in for the Runner I have now, and thought it was nice to have. Of course now, it seems you could include much more info (not all at the same time of course) to make it a valued feature.
However, there were a lot of people that I knew dimmed their HUDs down so they couldn't even see them because they thought they were too distracting.
To each his own, I guess...

Good find though. I'll have to look into it more.

I called toytec and ordered from them. Mine are the tundra's I believe.
 
Too rich for my blood. I use my speedometer for speed, my gas mileage is bad, and I have a bluetooth headunit for calls. Text messages wait until I stop like Jeremy said. If it was cheaper I would maybe be interested, but it would honestly probably be a novelty that I use all the time for the first two weeks and then the novelty of it fades out and I don't really use it.
 
The issue I have with it is that it's a bulky unit that sits on your dash. I'd rather have it on the top of the windshield or in the center of the windshield where my view is naturally going to be. If I am looking that far down at the dash, I might as well look at the cluster.

Probably should have made a different thread for this but oh well lol So how is it that you determine what the alignment should be? I could leave the alignment the same as long as I left the knob turned down to stock height correct?
