Need advice: Jack stands

Get the HF 6 ton set. Best deal out there. An idiot coworker of mine put our 6 ton HF stands under the back end of one of these and they held it fine. They will hold our runners no problem!

Without having it lifted off the ground, that won't tell me much - the springs still have to decompress. Unless you want to lend me a floor jack in the mean time so I know how much lift I'll need out of one of those too...

Assuming you can jack it off the ground, you can measure it. If you cant jack it, you have another issue.

I bought one of these 5 years ago. It's paid for itself many times since then. I've done all kinds of work on it from simple tire rotation and oil changes to pulling the transmission to replace the clutch on my wife's 2.7t A6. Back in May I swapped a motor in my nephew's Axiom.
F jack stands and creepers. If you intend to drive cars in the years to come and do most of your own maintenance it's a total no-brainer.

I'd of course prefer to have a 2-post lift that I can walk under, but in a suburban garage setting I've been very impressed with what I can do with a 4' scissor lift.
