Need help with new tires

Good evening gentleman. I've been looking through threads from T4R for about a year now but have never actually posted until today. I have a 2010 Mag Gray SRunner. I have finally worn through my stock tires and am in need of some new rubbers. I have ordered a Daystar Leveling Kit (KT09134BK). I have decided to go with some GY Duratracs but am unsure as to what size my Runner can handle after the DS kit is installed. Any help is much appreciated.

Rubbers will be mounted on stock 17" SR5 wheels

I had 285s on my stock SR5 wheels. I also run Duratracs. I am unsure of what size you will be able to fit with just the leveling kit but I think you can get away with 285s with moving the inner fender well. 275 for sure I would think. Others will let you know. Also, the search box will be a big help to you.

285's will fit, but you will have rub at both the front and the back of the fender well in both Forward and Reverse gears.
I installed a suspension lift to gain ~2.5" in the front to fit my new MT ATZ 285's on the stock SR5 Rims. I also installed the LR UCA's, which meant that I had to install 1.25" wheel spacers to prevent them from rubbing against the backs of the tires.

This may not go for everyone, but the following steps were required for me, to eliminate all rubbing issues:

a) Install a set of aftermarket UCA's (Light Racing for me), to allow dialing in a sufficient amount of caster to move the wheels ahead in the fender well(~ +4deg between the UCA and LCA during the post install alignment). At this point you may have no rub at the back of the fender well in forward gears, but likely will still rub when approaching full lock in reverse.
b) Do the fender liner mod to get rid of rub at the front of the fender well.
c) Do a body mount chop to fully get rid of all rub in forward and reverse.

I went with BFG 275/70/17's. Put them on my 2013 TE before my Toytec 2.5/1.5 leveling kit (which is getting installed today @ 10am).

Here's a pic of my TE taken this morning, stock, no mods, wearing the BFG's

I only had to do the front fender liner MOD with my 285/70/17 Duratracs, stock wheels, Stock UCAs, Front Bilstein @ 2.5" and rear 1.5" Daystar spacer....and it only rubbed on the driver side. Goes to show you that every vehicle is different and/or every installer in different :noidea:

Hey 5point, that looks sharp! Up until two weeks ago I was going to go with the BFGs but decided on the Duratracs after test driving them on a later model runner. I'm also looking to throw a set of 1.5" spidertrax spacers on there too so that should cut down on the rubbing. I'm ordering my tires today. . . Anyone have anything negative to say about Tirerack?

Biggest difference is the wheel spacers. I didn't have to do the bmc until I added those into the mix.

Yes, absolutely.
Since I wanted a wider stance, as well as to space the backs of the 285's out from the LR UCA's I was kind of stuck doing the fender well mods. Oh well.

Still interesting to hear about the people who claim to have absolutely no rub against the Body Mount after installing 285's with a 2-2.5" lift, with or without spacers.

You shouldn't need wheel spacers just cause you installed LR UCAs.

Depends how you want to look at it I guess. With the new UCA's and 285's there was ~.5" clearance from the UCA to the side biters on the back of the tire. For me that was a bit too close for comfort.

Just snagged some 285s for $979.00 out the door. . . Will have them and my spacer lift installed Monday. Pics to follow
Congratulations! Looking forward to some pics!

5Point56..

I'm looking at doing the same exact set up - may I ask what was your solution for the spare? Did you buy a 5th tire or do you have a contingency plan to just use the stock 265 if need be for short term?
