Need some help with CB install

Sorry no help. Mine is on the front bumper. But i will be mounting my 2 meter on the hatch so I am subsribing to see ideas.

From the diamond mount (passenger side rear hatch) i ran it to the driver side and into the cable passage that connects the hatch to the body. from there it's back to the passenger side inside the headliner, down the C-pillar, down to the door sills and in the middle of the front passenger door sill it goes under the carpet to the center tunnel where I have the control box mounted for my Cobra 75.
As FactoryRide already mentioned (thanks dude!), there is more detail and pics in my build thread. Feel free to give me a shout with any additional questions. I ran RG316/U Clear Jacket M17/113/RG316 Thermax all the way to the front since it's a small diameter cable (and MIL-std).

Here's what I did....kind of a po' man Antman bracket....snaked the wire into the rear of the channel, then into the cab via Okki's method...headed into the center console.

So far everything is going from the engine compartment fuse block to the passengers side door sill....I'll take pics while I run the power tomorrow.
The control box for the CB is going to live in the center console. I didn't take the center stack apart.

holy cow. I just saw Okki's pics in his thread. that is a big antenna.
I don't see any way that antenna folds. It has that hatch mount and spring, but appears to have no way to fold. Is it always vertical? Okki why didn't you go with one of the folding versions and mount it to your gobi rack?
I have the same cobra CB sitting in a box from two cars ago, maybe I'll get motivated and mount it up..... However, last time I needed car to car comms I just used the gmsr handhelds.

olice:I have a 2ft and a 4ft Firestik. Neither fits upright in my garage so if I have to get our of the vehicle to put it down, then I might as well unscrew it. same amount of effort. I eyeballed it instead of measuring so originally I was hoping the 2ft would fit into my garage; that's why I also have the hatch mount instead of the rack mount (brings it down a bit).
The 4ft does put a bit more load on the mount. Going at speed through Kansas it twisted the mount back (the Diamond mount is adjustable) and started unscrewing the antenna due to the wind rushing by it. I ran the rest of the trip with the 2ft as I had grabbed the wrong Allen wrench to properly tighten it down again.

Heres where I'm at...I also ran an hot line to rear while I had the sills off.
FYI.....I heated a Phillips head screw driver to go thru that rubber grommet to get inside the truck..piece of cake..
Im ready to hook up the power at the Bluesea bow...I don't have an swr meter so I'm hoping for the best..:hiding:

How's the reception of 2 ft antenna? I'm thinknig about permanent antenna for some time now - can't decide between 2 ft and 3 ft.

You should have about 1ft above the vehicle.
