Well Im in the market for a 4x4 pickup with full size backseat. And it has to be a Toyota and not expensive. So I decided on the 1st gen 4runner. Although not a pickup but I can take the top off and use it as such.
Reason I need a new vehicle is my current DD 1996 Tacoma extended cab cant fit the a baby seat in the back.
The kid will be here in a couple months so I plan on selling the tacoma and buying a 4runner.
I checked out an 89 runner tonight and its exactly what Im looking for. Not a spot of rust at all even under the truck. Runs great shifts perfect 4wd engages with no clang or anything. Interior is flawless no rips just a shammpooing and it'll be like new. All electronics work great. Only gripe is it has 265,000 miles and has either a bad rear main seal, oil pan gasket, or timing cover gasket, or a combination of the 3. Theres enough sludge caked on the pan to be anything.
Oil on the stick looks fine. Theres no unnessecary noises and Ive got 22R experience and have no erie feelings about it just dont feel like dealing with it.
The hard part is the guy wants to trade my truck for it. Ive got a 96 tacoma 2wd extended cab with 153,000 miles one owner. One dent on the bed, not rust whatsover but needs new tires.
I really like my truck but it just isnt practical anymore and doesnt seem like its gonna hold its value.
Just wondering if this is a fair trade. My asking price for my truck was $3000 and this guy is asking $3000 but is talking about giving me $300 and the runner for my truck once he looks at it.
Sound like a reasonable deal or not?
