W/ the chrome trim it comes off easily, I just pulled mine off, a few weeks ago, I used a rubbing compound and then wax on the fenders, can't even tell they were there.

And she is the best. Cool thing is she haggled for it and got it for $20, they go for like $80 on eBay. Score!

I'll see about taking off chrome trim, no rubbing compound at home right now.

Get some sliders on soon. Not whether or not you may ever need them, you'll want them ASAP. Door dings happen and nothing is funnier and makes me smile more than seeing it happen, and going "Oh, no worry's, but that'll cost ya to fix your door." as I wipe their paint chips off.

Here is the pic. See the wrinkle behind my passenger door on the 1/4p..that is the body damage I have to repair. They hit something and it bent the body.

That dent is a wrinkle.
The bumper has its own dent. The reinforment that the Y brackets for the bumper pushed up in to the body some. Only thing that save it all was the tow hitch connected to the frame. No frame damage at all.
I got a buddy whose shop will cut out the 1/4 panel, straighten it, straighten the bumper and bracket mount and repaint it all..just gotta get the funds together.

This blue is awesome..I like it a lot.

How many miles do you have?

176k. When I first got it I thought it said 126 and was excited..but that was due to a dirty dashboard. Saw the real mileage on the bill of sale after I bought it.
But near as I can tell, the head gasket is new, the radiator is new, some new front bushings, new master cylinder and paint and interior are in great shape. The roof is baked, happens in CA.

Can you do me a favor and snap a picture of the side view, looking from the front of the truck down, to show how much the tires stick out on the side. And are those 15x8's?

Sure, I'll do it on my break at work. I can tell you they don't stick out though..they are 31x10.50

I believe they are the 15x8's, I trust my tire guy, been using same shope for several vehicles now, and I am not really knowledgable about backspacing and such so told him I want rims that would accomodate a 6" lift in the future, if I decide I want that much. I can check my service order at home later.

What did you guys do about the chrome around the fenders? Can I just pull it off or I need to replace it with something? My toy budget is spent for the month so gotta do the "free" mods for now.

I started to take them off and noticed that the paint underneath wasn't as faded as the rest of the truck so i plasti dipped them instead.

thanks for the picture. it really helped. For what its worth, the chrome trim is good to take off and check behind. I took mine off and exposed a big rust hole that i had no clue was there. Also a good idea to take off the black deflectors right below the door. Thanks again for the picture.

Yeah, I had em off and put them back on. Saw a thread where a guy painted them black and it was a good look. My eventual trail bumpers will be black so thought I'd just black out the chrome also, rather than remove.

Well since I can't find a thread on what did you do with your 4runner classic this weekend I'll just add to this thread.
This weekend I drained and replaced the fluids in the front/rear diffs, xfer case, and tranny. It was fun =) I had how-to from someone who had a 98..was easier on my 93, 24mm socket all the way around. I did manage to burn my scalp some on the cat but all in all, 2 hour job and not bad at all. Shifts like butter now, once she warms up.
The GL-4 I ended up getting from Napa autoparts store, sta-lube brand by crc...31.99 a gallon. I used all conventional oils since I don't know if OP had used syn and I didnt want stuff to start leaking.
While I was out driving ran across a farmer who had an 88 4runner 4 sale..non-running but he had manual hubs on it..think I might call him and see if he will part them out to me =)
Gonna order an antenna mast and see if I can replace my power antenna mast that is broken next..and have an ISR tube coming that should be here the 15th.

No front sway bar...?

So I have noticed that my front end floats a little when I drive..I have to make a lot of steering adjustments. I looked into the front end and cannot find my sway bars. I see pics of what the quick disconnects for front sway bar look like and where they are at and I don't see that. I am not that knowledgable on suspension parts, teaching myself with this rig. Someone post up a good pic or describe what I am suppose to be seeing. I did a ton of google searches and image searches..just not seeing anything I can relate to under my truck's front end. I did find a Pro Comp steering stabilizer attached though...

Installed ISR

Took a bit for the ECU to adjust since I didn't do a reset but is idling great now. Not noticing any real difference. Will run it with a few tanks of gas to see if MPH improves at all.
