I keep thinking about the Prius kit PT233-47100. Downfall is dealers won't allow returns on electronics. I have found a few on ebay and as soon as I get refund on my GROM unit I am going to purchase one off there as a few people have a return policy. I will let everyone know.

I am reading mixed opinions on if the prius kit will work or not. On scion life one memeber says the cable is different, personally I don't know. I was going to order just the switch and the short cable from the scion, but it turns out the scion cable is on nationwide back order due to the earthquake in japan. Verified by 2 toyota dealers.

Quick and to the point, the AUX connection does not work on the T1814 Pioneer unit. So I will be looking for an aftermarket fix for my iPod as the FM transmitter sounds like crap and I will only be able to handle this so long...
On a bright note, the T1814 sounds great and looks good. Definitely an upgrade from the base stereo (keeping in mind I have already replaced the speakers with Hertz). CD sound and even radio have improved. Install took just under an hour.

broke e7 - in case you overlooked it above, here is a link to my post that will show you how to solder an inexpensive USB cable to the head unit that will give you full USB and iPod functionality - I installed the T1814 in my 99 4Runner and my wife uses her iPod 5th Gen with no issues. It's not that difficult to do and so much better than an FM transmitter.
I even swapped out the 29 tiny surface mount LEDs on the faceplate from amber to green so it matches my wife's 4Runner illumination.

I hadn't caught that. Thanks for the update. When I find a little time this looks worthwhile. How is the sound quality with this fix?
Update for the Alpine premium. I finally got the ipod/usb to work thanks to the t1814 tread. I finally got the balls to tear this down. The board is marked different from the board on the t1814 so you can't just assume you solder the wires in the same color sequence. The t1814 is labeled:
USBG - Black
USBM - White
USBDP - Green
USB5 - Red
The alpine unit is labeled:
VBUS - Red
HM - White
HP - Green
GND - Black
Althrough you have the ports int he same direction according to the pictures, they are different. I just assumed GND was black and then followed the similar ending letter USBM to HM and USBDP to HP.
WORKS!!!!
